Sarafina knew Dodger was scared, she was to. But the best thing she could was to be there for him like he was with her, she knew that once Dodger got to hold Ravi and see him for the first time all that anxiety that he was feeling would go away. Sarafina knew that Ravi was gonna love his father, if Ravi was going to be anything like her, he was gonna love Dodger as a father and a friend. She continued to run her fingers gently through his hair, knowing that it had a calming affect on him, she gently kissed his cheek again. "I went to the park yesterday and I saw a father and son tossing the old football around and I couldn't help but think how that's gonna be you and Ravi in a few years." She said softly to him.
Sarafina was perfectly content with laying next to Dodger, she looked at him face to face "Babe, you look tired. How about we go to my bed and take a nap? Maybe you'll feel better after a nice long nap, and better yet i'll take a nap with you." She said smiling at him, she was hoping he would accept it since he did look like he needed to take a nap. Sarafina gently took his hand, looking up at him with a small smile.

He was tired, there was absolutely no doubt about that but it was impossible to sleep with a million things on his mind. If only his mind came with a reset button, than he'd be back to square one again and being so tired wouldn't be such a pain in the ass. A few years seemed like such a long reach from tonight but time had a funny way of flying past you without a second look back. If he liked it or not, he had a reality check with his name written on it waiting to slap him silly. Dodger let out a deep sigh and sat there in silence, pulling the blanket over his head and shrugging his shoulders. Not because he was frustrated (which was what he usually felt like when he yanked the covers) but because the stress and fatigue made him feel like pulling his hair out. All he wanted was to drown his sorrows in a Styrofoam cup that was filled to the lid with sugary shaved iced and some flavoring. Or a drink. Or maybe both in the same cup.
Dodger pushed off the covers again and leaned forward, giving Sarafina a weary grin. "Yeah...I guess that'll be us, won't it?" He had said all he felt like saying and was ready to crash and burn, Dodger style. "How about I take a nap right here..." Before he could finish his own sentence he had plopped back down on the couch and pulled the covers back over his head, while Marv made himself comfortable at his feet. "Actually I think I need sleep...and a drink...but not at the same time."

Sarafina laid there next to Dodger, she knew that he needed her more then he ever did. And Sarafina was going to be there for him for as long as he needed her, she was going to do her best to keep this family together in the present and the future, she knew Ravi would love Dodger afterall Ravi was Dodger's flesh and blood. Sarafina knew Dodger had a rough childhood with his father, and so did she but now they had to chance to give another life a child a life they didn't have. She watched Dodger slip the covers over his head, it was only a few seconds later he pulled them backdown.
"Yeah, afterall being a football player is in his blood." She said smiling at him, she sighed softly and gave him a gentle kiss on his lips before he pulled the covers back over his head. Taking the t.v and DVD remote in her hand she turned off both and placed it on the table infront of them, they could always finish the movie later after some sleep, she got under the covers with him, snuggling up next to him so that her head was resting on his shoulder her hand on his chest using the other hand to place his arm around her, resting her hand on top of his, she looked up at Dodger "Babe, drinking won't make it go away." She said softly to him, not wanting him to become an alocholic like both their fathers who drank their troubles away.

The couch was far too comfortable for him to leave it, and with Sarafina by his side and Marv on his feed there was no way in hell he was going to leave this couch. She kissed him almost immediately after he tossed off the covers, only to bring them up to his chin again. The screen went black and the room became silent again, the only noises being Marv's snoring and the humming of the ceiling fan above them. The room was quiet and relaxed, oddly enough he liked it. He hated admitting when he was wrong, even when Sassifrass was so obviously right. Rolling over onto his side, Dodger let out a deep sigh. "I've learned that the hard way." More than once too, even though bringing up that part of his life wasn't something he was particularly fond of.
"But can't you make it go away?" Dodger turned around to face her again, looking up at her as she sat beside him.

Sarafina wasn't going to leave this couch anytime soon, especially since Dodger needed her at a time like this. She saw things being the other way around in movies but this time it was Dodger who needed her. And as much as she was going to, she was going to help Dodger as much as she possibly could, someone once told her that "That life would get rough, but with eachother they would be able to handel what ever the world threw at them." And the person that gave her that wise sense of advice was Dodger, but the Dodger that gave her that advice wasn't present, the Dodger that was presesnt was a scared Dodger, who wanted all the nerves about being a father to go away. And Sarafina wanted those nerves to go away was well, the last thing she wanted was Dodger going back to alcohol after what he has gone through to get sober. When Sarafina first meet Dodger, he was a drunk who was drinking away the sorrows of living with an alocholic father and a mother who passed away in a car wreck, it took Dodger a few weeks in rehab and the withdrawls to see what he had to sober up, "her". She could only hope Dodger wouldn't start drinking behind her back, that would hurt her more then anything, but she made a promise Dodger, and that was promise was to never give up and him and she was going to keep that promise.
Sarafina heard Dodger's voice, she looked back over to him as he turned over to face her. Sarafina placed a hand on the side of his "I will try to make it go away as much as I can." She said to him, kissing him again before moving closer to him resting her head into his shoulder wrapping her arms around him.

That was all the reassurance that he needed. She was all that h needed and he felt so guilty for making her carry his own fears on her shoulders like that. This wasn't fair to her, if only he could convince her this was a phase that would go away and never bother him again. With his face buried into the pillow, she snuggled close and wrapped her arms around him in a secure embrace. He wasn't himself lately, he wasn't the Dodger who pushed his luck and drove too fast and ate too many snow cones. Now he was anxious, quiet, and afraid of what the future had in store for him. "That's good enough for me." He'd already given up on himself, but he fought it everyday to keep Sarafina from knowing it.
He was starting to become the same wreck of emotions he used to be...the broken state that Sarafina had found him in and worked so hard to fix. Dodger had so much to lose and so much to gain and everything depended on turning himself back around.

Sarafina wished she had the old Dodger back, the smartass who was full of pride and always had a smartass reply to something. The Dodger she was witnessing now was killing her inside, the Dodger that she was with now it was the same Dodger that she found and worked so hard to fix to have a life with him and now because of her, he was back in the state. If only she was on the pill this wouldn't have happened, there were so many ways to prevent it and yet she didn't do any of that, she could only hope that Dodger would see he had a bright future ahead of him he was going to have a son, and he was going to be a father that he never head. Dodger depened on her in so many ways, and yet he was in this state. How could she let this happen?
She listened to Dodger's words, he said that her reponse was good enough for him, but it wasn't good enough for her. Sarafina felt that she had to do so much more to get the old Dodger back, but she didn't know how, finally she couldn't contain it anymore, a tear slipped down her cheek as she let out a sniffle, her head resting against Dodger's shoulder.

He was tired of feeling and acting like this, moping around like had been doing for the last couple of weeks. I shouldn't feel like this. No, I should be happy. If only he could flip the switch and turn on the lights, giving Sassifrass a chance to stop worrying so much about it. Dodger didn't want her to stress over him anymore, she had other things to focus her attention on and he didn't want to me something she would have to think about all the time. He loved her enough to tell her he was going to be okay, whether he believed himself or not. Her head softly fell onto his shoulder, resting there for a few moments as she silently let a tear drop of her eyes. Now that was the worst feeling he'd ever felt in his life.
"Sassifrass...." Dodger looked down at her, lifting her face up and resting it in the palm of his hand. "Please...please don't cry."

Sarafina was worried about Dodger more then anything else in her life at the moment, without him she didn't know how would be able to raise this baby on her own if something happened to him. She just wish there was a way to fix it, but there wasn't the best thing they could do is just wait for the baby to come into the world and take it from there and hope for the best. It was no doubt that things might be hard the first few months with Sarafina being at school, but Dodger was able to stay home all day till after school so that was a good thing, but what if something happened just a few weeks before the baby is born, it was something she was scared about, when a tear slide down her face.
When she heard Dodger say her name she knew that Dodger noticed the tear that slid down her face, she felt Dodger's hand lift her face up to him so that she was looking at him, he asked her not to cry but the Dodger that she was experiancing was hurting her, "I just wish.....I could make things better for you Dodger....It hurts me to see you like this, I just wish I could make it all go away." She said as a another tear trickled down her face as she rested her head in Dodger's palm.

"You don't have to worry about me, and you don't have to cry." Taking her hand in his, he let out a relaxed sigh as he looked up at her. This was something she couldn't help him with, he would have to get over this on his own and at his own pace no matter how long that took. There was a look in her eyes that made him believe whatever he was feeling now would only be temporary, the answers were right there in those eyes he could lose him staring into. "Maybe I'm just psyching myself out..." Dodger felt helpless. Sarafina was shedding tears over him and he could have prevented that from happening. "Don't worry about me so much. I'll be fine."
There was only one thing left for him to do, to smile down at her and hold her face softly in the palm of his hand. There was no use in feeling helpless anymore, when he knew he could do one simple thing to turn her emotions right back around to where they needed to be. Sarafina deserved happiness, and he would make damn sure that was what she got. Just a kiss was all it took for him to feel okay again.

Sarafina should've seen this coming, Dodger becoming a nervous wreck and maybe if she had noticed it earlier maybe she could've prevented it. But now that he was already in that state she didn't know what she could do to make it go away, she would give anything to make him happy, and relaxed again. She missed that snarky, smartass Dodger that she fell in loved with, she hated seeing him so breakable before, she looked up at Dodger as he spoke to her, taking her hand in his as he did, saying that she didn't have to worry about him, but the sad thing was she had to worry about him. Dodger was her life, and in a few months she would have two reasons to keep going, she just hoped Dodger would be better by the time Ravi was born.
Her faced continued to rest in the palm in his hand, she looked up at him seeing a smile on his face Sarafina wanted to smile back but she couldn't. It was then she felt his lips against hers, it seemed everytime he kissed her, a tingel went down her spine and it still happened. After a few seconds she raised her free hand placing it on his side.

For the first time in his life, there was looking to look forward to and a future waiting there for him, something he never would have had on his own. Life with him wasn't easy, she knew that better than anyone did. All he needed was a little momentum, motivation to feel normal again and she was all that he ever needed. Even if she didn't see it and never agreed with it, she was absolutely perfect. The same kind of flawless he caught himself wanting to be, following her guidance in hopes that one day it just might change him the way it changed her. She did more good for him than she would ever know, bringing out the smile in him when he thought he would never smile again. "I promise I'll be okay." If she ever doubted him before, the sincere look in his eyes was enough to make her believe what he was saying.
With another shy smile, Dodger reached forward and pushed a curl of blonde hair behind her ear, because she always looked so cute when she wore her hair like that. He couldn't resist leaning back down and kissing her again, with a smile on his lips.

Sarafina wanted Dodger to feel better, she wasn't going to let him slip back into the state that she found him back in Texas, she refused to let that happen. When she noticed that real Dodger, the Dodger that was sober, a smartass one high in pride she started to fall for him, she didn't it would happen but it did. Soon it wasn't gravity holding her to the ground, it was him after he sobered up, Dodger started to take care of her to keep her out of her dad's reach and she witnessed a Dodger she knew that she would only witness and she's loved him ever since. When she heard Dodger's voice she looked up at him, he promised her that he would be okay, she looked into his eyes and saw that sincere look in his eyes that he was telling the truth "I believe you." She replied. Dodger was her one and only, even though he can be a little difficult times she loved him and having his baby was only making her life better.
Sarafina felt Dodger's hand brush a piece of her curly blonde hair behind her ear, she looked up at him to see a shy smile on his face, he looked so cute when she saw that smile. Sarafina watched as Dodger leaned in closer to her, she felt his lips against hers she let out a content sigh as soon as their lips touched eachother she rested a hand on the back of his neck the other on his lower back moving closer to him.

I believe you.
No three words had ever had such significance to him than they did now. "I was hoping you would say that..." It would mean more to him than she would ever now, all he could do was keep smiling that sly smile at her and know that things were looking up for him. She flipped on the light switch, bringing forward the best in him. She was all he ever needed, the one person who believed him in when everyone else had given up all hope.
He brushed her hair behind her ears because she looked so cute that way, her hair was curly and blonde and he never could stop playing with it whenever she let him. He didn't know why he felt so shy now, but the way she was looking at him even made him blush...something he hadn't done since the first day he met her. When he kissed her, Dodger couldn't help but smile against her lips.

Sarafina believed his words more then anything, she had always trusted him ever since from day one. Sure it was rough in the beginning but things could only get better, and they did when it seemed life was only getting more rough for her, it suddenly got better for her when Dodger stepped into the picture finally sober. Hearing those words brought a smile to her face, she reached up and stroked the side of his face with her fingertips, resting her forehead agianst his "I love you Dodger." She said to him lovingly, before kissing him again.
Sarafina blushed when he brushed her hair behind her ear, he knew the right actions to make her blush so easily. Dodger was purely addicted to her blonde, curly hair he played with whenever he got the chance, but she didn't mind it at all, afterall she did the same thing with his and she couldn't help it. She smiled as he kissed her again, she couldn't help but run a hand through his hair.
