Dodger leaned in to kiss her on the forehead, brushing a chunk of golden blonde hair behind her ear. "How'd I get so lucky with you?" That question had been burning on repeat in his mind ever since day one. The only love he'd ever known before she came along was his love for hangover remedies and sneaking out with Kaleb. He certainly didn't deserve someone like her, and there was a part of him that still believed that. Pride was a tough pill to swallow and he wouldn't admit that out loud...but it was the truth. Dodger's manners were also lacking...being a gentleman wasn't something he was taught and he paid more attention to the ladies than his school work. He was a complete train wreck when they met, and things could only go up from here. She showed him there was always a light at the end of a tunnel, the silver lining of a cloud. He needed her more than anything else in the world, and it was a pity that he didn't show it nearly as often as he should.
"I ask that question every time I look at you." He looked up at her with hopeful eyes, knowing his future was looking brighter than ever as he laid there on the couch with her. Surrounded by popcorn with the noises of blood-thirsty zombies in the background, he was right where he wanted to be.

A lot of people have told Sarafina that she was too good for Dodger, but she didn't care what other people said. In her eyes there was only on person she wanted, and his name was Dodger. Yes, Dodger had a sense of pride, was hard headed, and was snarky more then half of the time but she knew how to handle it, besides she knew deep down there wasa Dodger only she could bring out and she's scene and witnessed that Dodger, and she knew deep down that Dodger was the one for her, no matter how much of a pain in the ass he was.
When she felt him brush her blonde her hair behind her ear tingles went down her spine, she loved the feeling of his touch. When she heard his voice she looked up at him, asking How'd I get so lucky with her. Ever since she went to Dallas, Texas she felt something for Dodger, something she had never felt before, a few seconds passed,I ask that every time I look at you.. In her heart Dodger did deserve her, but he needed to treat her better and she knew maybe if she tried hard enough maybe it would happen. She placed a hand on Dodger's face, "Dodger, I love and you love me. It's not luck, it's fate, ever since we met in Dallas, I knew that you were the one who would treat me better then anyone could. You've been there for me since the beginning, and I know that i'm meant to be with you." She said to him lovingly, her words were true to Dodger. She wanted to live with Dodger for the rest of her life.

Someone alert the media, was he actually being sincere for once? Why yes, actually he was. But only because being around Sarafina made him forget about how much of a pain he was. Those moments were about as rare and unpredictable as a Bigfoot sighting, but that didn't mean they didn't happen. And for some reason, he was feeling that way right now as they comfortably sat on the couch with popcorn and DVD cases all over the floor. "I really like how you worded that, you're a lot better with words than I am." He looked up at her and smiled, because she knew he was speaking the truth. She was trying to whip him into shape, but turning him into a gentleman would happen just as soon as hell froze over and pigs grew wings.
He couldn't help but smile as she looked at him and softly placed a hand on his face. Every time he treated her like the dirt on the ground, she was quick to bring him back to his senses. Dodger could never forget how it felt to lose something as good to him as she was. "You're right, I do love you. Even if I don't show it as much as I should."

Sarafina knew Dodger wasn't an easy guy to love, but she saw past his pride, attitude and his smartassness and deep down there somewhere she saw something that she hadn't seen in anyother guy, she just hoped that someday it would come out and it would be worth the wait. When Sarafina said "Dodger had been there since the beginning." it was the truth, he has even though when they first meet in Texas, Dodger was different. Very different. He was into things that could kill him, drugs, and alcohol, Sarafina remembered showing him that there was more to life then that, and she knew that from experiance afterall living with a drunk father who said that your existance was nothing but a waste of space wasn't all that great, it was anything but. Of course to make things better it takes time, a lot of time and Sarafina gave Dodger that time and he was a lot better then they had first meet, a small smile appeared on her face and when she heard his comment about how he liked how she worded the sentence, she placed a kiss on his forhead.
Of course she loved Dodger more then she could put into words but there were moments when she felt like she meant nothing to him, you see Dodger had his moments when he would say something before he would think about it or think about the outcome. And that's happened quite a few times, but she knew deep down, Dodger learned from those mistakes and she would still be his. Sarafina looked into his faded blue eyes as he spoke to her, Sarafina knew that things took time, Dodger was still a diamond in the rough and she also knew Dodger didn't have a lot to hold onto, infact maybe she was the only thing he had left to keep him from going back to the past she just hoped that someday Dodger would change a little bit for the better,"Maybe one day, you will start doing just that." She said softly before placing a gently kiss on his lips before resting her head on his chest, moving as close to him as she could, wanting to stay right here with him. There was one thing Sarafina didn't do so easily, and that was to give up on people and Dodger wasn't going to be one of those people she gave up on.

As much as she would enjoy it, he wasn't going to magically grow up overnight. He'd always been an ornery pain in the ass, who cracked jokes instead of taking life too seriously. "Maybe I will. Just maybe." She was too good to him for him to let her slip through his fingers again...and he was always afraid he would do just that. And if he ever did something so stupid he could only hope that he would be able to get her back before it was too late. She was the first person he admitted to having such strong feelings for, the only person he'd ever loved. He honestly never meant to hurt her as much as he had, but when he started running his mouth he always regretted the words that would come out of it. She always told him she wasn't about to give up on him, and he was going to hold her to that promise.
"December will be here before you know it. You seem to feel a lot more confident about it than I do." He didn't know how she could feel so nonchalant and relaxed about this. On the outside, he tried his best to remain as calm as possible but on the inside he was an emotional train wreck. And even though she tried her hardest to comfort and encourage him, he shook his head and her words went in one ear and out the other. Even the sleeping pills couldn't keep his mind off of it and his sleepless nights were spent watching movies as Marv slept on his lap. He didn't know what he was supposed to do.

Ever since Sarafina told Dodger that she was pregnent with his kid she kept getting that thought in her head,"He's gonna leave me." It seemed to pop in her head every know and then, and to be honest she was scared that it just might happen. But she just hoped that Dodger wouldn't. Dodger became the first guy she could trust to be in a relationship with, and she never thought she would be able to since growing up with her father wasn't exactly a walk in a the park, infact it was anything but. And Dodger found out what her father was like when he decided to come onto the campus completely drunk in the middle of the school year.
She knew that Dodger was nervous, she could see it in his eyes but it was too late to go back now. December was only a few months away, and their baby wasn't an it anymore, it was a "he." When Sarafina told Dodger that they were having a boy, he seemed so excited to be having a baby but now it seemed like he didn't want it. She just hoped that he would stay and be a father,"Believe me Dodger, i'm scared to. I'm very scared, but I look at the bright side. We can both be the parents we never had, we have a chance of giving our child the life we never had." She said looking up at him, placing a hand on his chest hoping he would understand what she said.

She was terrified that he was gonna leave her...but even though he was just as nervous and scared as she was, he would never leave her. How could he? He might be completely confused and lost, but he refused to run away from this when he knew it was greatest thing that had ever happened to him. Maybe he didn't see it at first, but he saw it light a light at the end of the tunnel. But she was scared too, and being on the same page with her calmed his nerves but only just a little. "I want to...but I don't know how I'm gonna do this." He looked up at her as if he was going to find all the answers in her eyes, because without her, he would be just as lost as he was feeling now.
He could only hope that Ravi was going to inherit more of Sarafina's qualities than his, because if he acted like his dad they'd have to chase that all day long. Dodger was a riot when he was growing up, and broke more laws by the time he was eighteen than most people did in their lifetime. He would do everything he could to keep Ravi out of trouble, and always be the parent that Dodger always wanted, but never had. He sure as hell wasn't going to ignore him, instead he was going to listen to anything and everything he had to say. And when it came to giving advice, he wouldn't hesitate for a minute. If he could do anything right, just one thing, it would be to give his son a life he'd be proud of. "I know I keep saying I'm nervous...but I'll never leave you, no matter how scared I get."

Sarafina knew Dodger was nervous as nervous could get, but she promised Dodger the first day they got together in Dallas he would never give up on her and she was known for keeping her promises and she was going to keep the promise she made to Dodger, afterall Dodger and Ravi was all she had. Sarafina wasn't in contact with her family as much as she should be, but now that she had Dodger and Ravi she had everything she needed to keep going. Before she met Dodger she had no reason to live, a normal day was get ready for school, go to school, come home, do homework and listen to her drunk father, and get hit evertime she was out of place, witch to her father was every second she tried to speak.
"Maybe after Ravi is born, your nerves will go down." She said softly looking into Dodger's faded blue eyes, she loved Dodger more then anything and now Ravi was coming into their lives. Of course she was shocked and scared but she knew that Dodger was going to be a amazing father, "Your gonna be a great father Dodger, I know you probably don't see it in you but I do. And I will help you every step of the way." She said placing a gently kiss on his lips, resting her forehead against his, she moved closer to him so that there bodies were completely against eachother.[/blockqoute]

She had so much faith in him...faith he wasn't even sure he really deserved. But when she threw out the idea that he wouldn't feel like such a mess after Ravi was born sounded good, but he doubted that too. Kids didn't come with manuals you could check out at the library, and the only experience he had with babies was when he used to babysit his one-year-old cousin in Texas for twenty bucks an hour. She believed in him with every fiber of her being, but unless he started seeing things clearly would he start to feel the same. Maybe holding Ravi for the first time and actually seeing with his own eyes would be the dose of reality he needed. He had a great thing going for him, and he knew that too even if he wasn't so good at showing it.
She knew he didn't see things the same way she did, as hard as it was for the both of them to admit and realize. "I hope you're right...." He looked up at her with a weakness in his eyes that even Sarafina had never seen before. "I really do.""

Sarafina hated seeing Dodger like this, she couldn't feel that she was to blame for it. Ever since she told him she was pregnent with his baby it seemed like something clicked in him, a switched turned on. She had never seen him like this before, and it was hurting her to see him this vunerable like this she would do anything to help Dodger. When he looked up at her with the weakness in his eyes it hurt her, she would do anything to help Dodger see that he was going to be a great father, but she didn't know how. This was her first time being in this position, after a few seconds of staring into his eyes she wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly she placed her hand on the back of his head, gently running her in his hair in hopes to calm him, she remembed her mother doing that to help her fall back asleep after waking up from a nightmare, Sarafina just hoped that it would help him. She wanted to do something to relax his nerves and have him see he was going to be a great father but she didn't know how.

Please don't blame yourself for this...it's not your fault. The words he wanted to say were at the tip of his tongue, but his words refused to budge and he sat there in his silence. Looking down at the spilled popcorn that dotted across the floor, he could feel her arms stretching towards him and pulling him into a calming embrace. Sarafina hugged him as if her life might depend on it, that if she didn't hold on that she just might lose him and he never felt as good as he did when she was there to calm him. Her hands brushed through his hair as she held him, and for once tonight he finally felt like maybe...just maybe, there was some spark of confidence behind his blue eyes.
He had never felt so vulnerable or breakable before...and the blame was resting on his shoulders because who else was he supposed to blame for the way he felt? And if this feeling was normal, he closed his eyes for a moment and hoped by some slim chance it would fade away to blackness. I need you more than ever now...

Sarafina just laid there with him holding Dodger in a comforting hug, before he came into the picture she didn't think she would be having the future she's having now, and it was now happening but Dodger wasn't the same ever since Sarafina told him she was pregnant with his child he just wasn't the same. She just hoped and prayed that Dodger would see the light and be the same like he was, she missed his snarky attitude and it was killing her inside she would do anything to see him smile the way he used to. Sarafina missed that million dollar smile he had, his smile light of her world and now he didn't smile the same way, she would do anything to see that smile again.
As she continued to embrace him in a comforting, loving hug. She didn't know what to say to him, she just hoped after Ravi was born Dodger would see the light, "Dodger.....I know it isn't gonna be easy at first, but the further we go the easier it will get. Your gonna be a great father, I will help you every step of the way and as much as I have to." She said softly to him, resting her hand in his hair moving closer to him.

As much as he wanted to "just suck it up" and "get over it" that wasn't going to happen because if he felt breezy and nonchalant about this, then he would need to be concerned. He didn't want to move and quiet frankly, he didn't want to do much of anything except for lay where he was. He didn't anticipate such a dramatic change in personality, he had lost a part of himself that he found himself missing a little more every day. There was something relaxing about the way she let her fingers brush through his hair, pulling him closer to her so that only air lay in between them. "I'll get over this feeling...I know I will." But when? That was the millionaire question he wished he could afford the answer to.
Sarafina was the only one he'd admitted to this to, and he didn't even think Kaleb knew the extent of his anxiety. Dodger was losing sleep over this, something he'd never encountered until now. "So...so you think he'll like me?"

Sarafina could only hope that this feeling that Dodger had would go away after Ravi was born, as she held Dodger she could feel Ravi moving around inside her. She knew that Ravi would love Dodger, as a father and a friend if Ravi was going to be anything like her Ravi would love Dodger and since Doger is the father Ravi would. She continued to gently run her fingers through his hair, it seemed to have a calming affect on him and that was what she wanted, "I'm sure it will after you see and hold Ravi for the first time." She said softly to him, placing a loving kiss on his cheek.
She knew that she would have to keep this quiet around school, especially since Dodger was known for being hard as stone at school and having nothing but the bad boy, bad ass attitude. When he asked if Ravi would like him she looked at him face to face, "Dodger, your his father he's gonna love you, no matter what." She said, gently taking Dodger's hand placing it on her stomach, as Ravi started to kick her stomach as soon as Dodger's hand was on her stomach, "He already knows who you are, he's never kicked this much before, and by the feel of how hard he's kicking he loves you already." She said to him lovingly, resting her forehead gently against his looking into his faded blue eyes.

Her small fingers continued to brush through his sandy blonde, the feeling of his hair between her fingers gave him a sense of security he could only find when he was with her. Dodger let out a deep sigh when she leaned in a bit closer to place a kiss on his cheek. He wanted to kick himself for acting like this, because he knew he ought to be the stronger one out of the two and blamed himself for piling his own problems onto her shoulders. Sarafina didn't deserve to worry over his mixed emotions. "I hope so Sassifrass, I really do." For months he shoved his anxiety as far away from himself as he possibly could, but even the strongest of walls had to fall eventually and they chose the most inconvenient time to do it. Dodger had been too damn proud to admit to anybody else he was literally shaking his boots and was completely clueless.
Yeah, well, I didn't love my dad. That didn't mean he didn't try...because every day spent with his dad was a test of Dodger's will to hold on to their crumbling relationship that was failed from day one. "Sometimes when I'm going to get a snow cone, I'll see some little kid with a paper cup in his hand and I can't help but think that'll be him someday."
