Summer in Texas was about as hot and dry as the Sahara desert, and that was on a good day. But there were always plenty to do around here to keep someone's mind off of the heat. While most of the high schoolers liked to spend their summer going on expensive vacations or hanging with friends, Dodger spent his days playing his guitar and singing random songs just for the hell of it. He managed to pull some strings and get on the good side of the entertainment director at Six Flags Over Texas.
He parked his old Ducati by the entrance, with his dad's old guitar in his hand. It was old and needed replacing, but it played as good as new. Someday, I'll have a car AND a new guitar. Yeah, right. He thought to himself and shrugged, as he walked towards the entrance. Six Flags smelled like funnel cake and popcorn, an interesting combination of amusement park foods. Dodger remembered coming here as a kid, staring at the intimidating roller coasters with a challenging grin on his face.
He found his way backstage, sitting in an empty chair and tuning his old guitar while he waited for the call.

Sarafina sat in the frong passenger seat of her friends Jeep, it was a good thing she had one to. It was hotter here then it could ever be in Nevada, and Sarafina though Nevada was hot, this place felt like it was a oven, but it was beautiful out here that was for sure, the lights the hills it was nothing but pure sand and bushes but it was nice out here to. Sarafina looked over at her friend who was focusing on the road, Sarafina turned up the radio, it was then her friend started to sing in some child's voice witch made her laugh, Sarafina put on her Avaitor sunglasses.
After a long drive, the Six Flags sign came into view, "Finally we are here, and ready to have some fun! Her friend yelled, Sarafina laughed at her friends response. After ten minutes in line they finally walked into the gates looking on the map and they saw a name on a board appearently someone named "Dodger Moore" was performing, "You up for checking it out?" Chelsea, her friend asked "Yeah, let's go." Sarafina replied, as they walked over to the stage they got a few drinks (soda of course) and two cowgirl hats, when they reached the stage it was already packed with people but the two managed to the front, Sarafina looked around the stage afterall this was her first time in Texas, but so far she was enjoying it.

Dodger could never decide on the right song to sing, because he was always changing his mind. Five minutes till showtime and he still didn't know what to sing. He opened his bottle of water and took a drink before a dark haired woman holding a clip board in her hand gave him the signal. "All right kid, it's your turn." She said to Dodger with a confident grin, she was still trying to figure out why he hadn't hit it big yet. But Dodger wasn't sure if he wanted to, fame was something that didn't necessarily appeal to him anyway. The money, maybe. But having cameras in his face all day every day didn't sound like a fun time. Dodger picked up his guitar and smirked, and took his place on the center stage.
He decided to go with a favorite of his, a song that was always fun to play no matter how many times he played it. "Normally I would have this all planned out, but this song was sort of last minute idea. Anyway, I hope you like it." There was a good Skillet song for everything, or so it seemed to him.
"I see you standing here, but you're so far away. Starving for your attention, you don't even know my name."

Sarafina looked around seeing the place slightly packed with people who was looking for some kind of souce of entertainment that didn't involve rollcoasters, long lines or anything that had to do with a large crowd. Sarafina took a sip of her soda before the lights on the stage turned on, and some extra people came out on stage, then he came out on stage holding a guitar in his hand. Sarafina felt her heart jump at the sight of him, she didn't know why...Okay, he was good looking and seemed really nice but hell, she didn't even know him.
While staring at the guy on stage like a complete idiot, Sarafina felt a nudge on her elbow she looked at Chelsea "Hey, are you okay? She asked, "Yeah, I...i'm fine. She replied, blusing slightly. Chelsea just looked at Sarafina with a smile, "What?" Sarafina asked, Nothing.. Chelsea replied shaking her head with a smile at Sarafina. When Sarafina heard the sound of his hands strumming the guitar, she looked over back at him, if it was possible to melt Sarafina knew that she would melt at the sound of his voice.

Being on stage just felt natural to him, like he was always supposed to be there with his guitar in hand. "You're going through so much, but I know that I could be the one to hold you." Too bad he didn't have anyone to sing this song too. Dodger was difficult and a pain in the ass to hold on to, which was the main reason he liked to be on his one. All he needed was that black Ducati and his old guitar and he was set.
"Every single day I find it hard to say, I could be yours alone. You will see someday that all along the way, I was yours to hold." Dodger kept strumming his guitar like he loved to do, looking out into the crowd with a faint smile on his face.

Sarafina people cheering on the guy on stage, then there was loud yell, "Yeah, go Dodger!" Chelsea and Sarafina turned around to try and see who it was that yelled out the encouragement words. Chelsea and Sarafina turned around and look at eachother laughing "I guess you weren't lying about Dallas being a friendly place." Sarafina said to Chelsea, "Come on Sarafina, would I lie to you? She asked, Sarafina responded by raising a eyebrow, "You really want me to answer that?" Sarafina asked, Chelsea shook her head with a smile.
Sarafina looked back at the one who was known as Dodger, that was a unique name for him. He was pretty good at playing guitar, and he had an amazing voice she never heard anything like it. She could stay here all night and listen to his voice and watch him play the guitar.

"I didn't know I had a fan club." Dodger said with a smirk, waving casually at the group of friends that was sitting in the back. A few rows in front of them, he noticed a group of girls who looked like they were new around here and were just trying to have some fun. He flashed a smile at the ground, his eyes glancing towards the gorgeous blonde who was sitting next to her friend.
He finished his song with a snarky smile, as his group of friends stood up and clapped obnoxiously. "Thanks for putting up with me, it means a lot."

Sarafina smiled at Dodger's response towards his so called fan club, okay from that response he seemed like a really nice guy, "Come Dodger, you know you do!" The same voice yelled again. Chelsea followed Dodger's gaze and noticed that he was looking at Sarafina, Chelsea nudged Sarafina's elbow Sarafina, he's totally looking at you. Chelsea said, Sarafina raised an eyebrow at her comment, "No, he's not." She said in response, "Yes he is. Chelsea stated again.
Sarafina started to slowly turn her head towards Dodger, when she made eye contact with him she looked away shyly and slightly blushing. Chelsea couldn't help but laugh at Sarafina's response. Chelsea looked back up at Dodger as he thanked the crowd for standing him while he was on stage.

"Yeah, whatever you say man." Dodger smirked, giving a final nod before he slipped backstage and put the guitar back in its case. Since he didn't feel like carrying it around, he left it with one of the other performers and said he would come back for it when he was ready to leave. I wonder if that blonde is still here. He thought to himself, grabbing an ice cold bottle of water as he walked into the crowd. Dodger ran a hand through his sandy blonde hair, taking a seat in the shade by the Ben and Jerry's ice cream shop.
The park was buzzing with activity, just like it always did during the weekend. But as he sat there sipping on his water, he looked into the crowd in hopes that he might catch another glimpse of that blonde.

Sarafina felt a nug on her elbow as soon as Dodger left the stage, she looked over to see Chelsea had nudge her before heading entrance, Sarafina followed her not knowning that Dodger would be looking for her. It seemed neither Chelsea or Sarafina could make up there minds about what they wanted to do, so they decided to wonder around aimlessly till something caught their eyes.
It seemed like hours passed but it was only minutes before Sarafina and her friend found themselves next to Ben and Jarry's Ice Cream Shop. Sarafina looked through the crowd seeing different things and places to choose from, while Chelsea looked around she noticed someone familiar sitting in the shade but she didn't say anything it didn't look like she wouldn't have to.

Ice cream sounded like a pretty good idea to him now that he was off the stage and in the sun. When he walked out of Ben and Jerry's, he leaned against the wall and looked over at the girl he saw only a few moments earlier. She must not be from around here. He thought to himself, eating some of his chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. He'd been here long enough to spot a newcomer when he saw one.
"Having fun yet?" He asked her with a smirk.

Sarafina was too into talking to her friend to notice the guy walking up behind her, when she heard his voice she thought Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. In a good way of course, she bit down on her lip as she slowly turned around seeing the one who performed a few minutes ago infront of her, he seemed even more charming up close. She felt her cheeks flush a little bit, a sweet smile appeared on her face "Yeah.....I'm Sarafina. She said softly, trying to not act shy but failing in the process.

Dodger smiled, taking another bite of his rapidly melting ice cream. The sun wasn't being too friendly right now, and his poor ice cream was taking the abuse. Sarafina, she said was her name. It was uncommon but he liked it, it was just as lovely as she was. But he was no stranger to unusual and uncommon names. His parents must have been borderline crazy when they named their son Dodger. "It's a pleasure to meet you." He said with a smile, poking at his ice cream with the spoon. He got a kick out of telling people that his mom and dad named him after their old Dodge Challenger. He wanted a new one, but he had nowhere enough money for one.
"I'm Dodger. You want some ice cream? It's freakishly hot and it's air conditioned in there."

Sarafina felt her cheek get warmer as he continued to stand there and talk to her, she never thought she was get the attention of someone like him. He was charming, kind and was definalty working that Texas Charm. Chelsea walked off the ride then saw Sarafina talking to the guy that was peroforming earlier, she quickly turned around and walked away. Sarafina never seen herself so shy at meeting someone, of course she was shy but she was never shy as she was now. When he asked if she wanted some ice cream she looked up at him with a small smile "I'd love some ice cream." She replied sweetly.

Dodger smiled at her as she accepted his offer, and he led the way through the door into the air conditioned room full of ice cream possibilities. "Great. Pick whatever you want, although deciding on a flavor is the best part." On the wall there was a list of the current flavors, a few combinations and store favorites. He liked to try a different one each time he came, which was pretty frequent since his friends always dragged him back to the stage whether he liked it or not.
As he paid with for her ice cream, he found a booth by the window for the two of them to sit down. After being on his feet all day, taking a seat sounded like a wonderful idea. "So what brings you to Texas?"
