Rory lightly dipped her brush into the small cup of water, a burst of blue billowed from the tip and swirled with the clear liquid. She tapped it on the rim before dabbing the brush into a splotch of purple. Her soft green eyes narrowed as she tilted her head and contemplated her next stroke. Rory was never one to parade around in the art department, she much preferred the solitude offered by the abandoned building just outside the dorms. A few times a week after dark while everyone else was sleeping or smuggling alcohol into their rooms she was here.
The room she'd chosen had a window that faced away from campus allowing the dim light of the candles she'd lit to remain unnoticed from the outside. The rest of the light was provided by the moon which was large and full on this evening. In her dark jeans and black shirt you almost wouldn't notice her. But, her sleeves were rolled up to her elbows exposing her pale forearms and slender fingers. There were smudges of blue, purple, and cream on her knuckles and palms. She sat on the ground with her legs crossed and the canvas situated on her lap. Her brushes, water, and paint was on the floor beside her next to several small, white candles.
Rory had been working on this particular piece for the last two weeks. It was of a young woman holding the moon gingerly in her hands on a dark beach. Her eyes were sad as her arms extended the glowing orb to a young sailor who had been shipwrecked. He had piercing blue eyes and unkempt blonde hair and this expression of deep curiosity. Rory wasn't sure what had inspired her to paint it. Perhaps it was that seminar in her Greek History Course about Selene, goddess of the moon. But, it was more likely that Rory was just painting what she knew and she'd spent years staring up at the moon, watching, waiting.
There was a soft patter of foot steps coming down the hallway. Rory barely looked up from her canvas, undisturbed that there was someone else lurking about the old building this late at night. It didn't really matter she could always disappear into the shadows before they had a chance to see her. But, for the moment she would remain visible and just focus on her painting.

We are Sisters of the Night. We are Wild, we are Free. Through the Darkness, follow me... Luna needed some alone time right now. Okay well, not really. She always liked going out at night by herself, to enjoy the moonlight and the night air. It made her think of her Mother, Nyx. Which thinking about her, brought an instant smile to her dark red painted lips. Her acid green eyes shined eerily in the night as she walked through the campus towards the Abandoned Dorms. She liked to go there to read, write and sometimes draw. Her black as night hair was in a Celtic maiden style, being held back by a barrette with two crescent moons and a sun in the middle. It was a gift from her Dad after getting the job at the Funeral Home as a Secretery. Anyway, when she got to the abandoned building, Luna noticed a window was dimly lite. Narrowing her eyes, she walked into the building only to use her powers to travel through the Shadows. Now, something new has started to happen with her when she used her powers and is alone. These markings appear on her forehead with a crescent moon in the middle. Plus, when she mentioned it to her teacher after one of her Demigod classes, Luna was told that every Demigod has a different reaction to their powers. Turns out that the markings were one of them. Getting to the floor that the lite room was on, Luna appeared fully out of the shadows as the markings on her forehead faded. Her waist length black hair moved in the slight breeze, walking to the room seeing that the door was gone. She quietly, or so she thought, made her way into the room just to see a girl around her age painting with candles lite around her. Moving closer, Luna could see the painting a lot better then at the door. "Wow. That's a amazing." She complimented, studying the beauty of the painting. It looked similar to Selene, the Goddess of the Moon. Wearing Outfit

She had started to fad but, seeing Luna Nightshade appear through the doorway made her stop. Rory didn’t look up from her painting, even as she approached from behind. She wasn’t startled or bothered by her presence, just curious. What was she doing out of bed this time of night? Then it sort of hit her. Nyx. While, Rory had never made an effort to befriend Luna (hell, she didn’t make an effort to befriend anyone) she knew who she was. They’d had plenty of courses together over the years both common and demi-god and Rory had come to learn that Luna was somewhat of a cousin of hers. Nyx was her mother and also the brother of Rory’s father Erebus. So in a strange fashion these two were related in both powers and genetics.
“"Wow. That's a amazing." Rory heard her voice but, for some reason it took a moment for her to register the compliment. It wasn’t that Rory wasn’t accustomed to hearing people say something nice to her it just didn’t happen very often. For the most part people just didn’t talk to Rory because she was so rarely visible. She didn’t like to stick out, didn’t like to be the center of any kind of attention, and didn’t want any recognition. Her time in foster care had given her enough of a chance in the spot light and well, that didn’t exactly go over too well. “There’s something wrong with her.” “Odd.” “Are there any others?” “She’s a good kid, I’m sure of it. But, she just doesn’t fit here.” It wasn’t exactly her fault. Rory just didn’t have control over her powers and normal families found it odd when a child would randomly disappear and reappear around the house.
Rory took a deep breath, carefully brushed on a splotch of purple in the background, and without turning she muttered, “Erh. Thanks.” She wasn’t really sure what to say. It’s one of the reasons she hated compliments. Rory always felt compelled to say something nice back to the person. But, what was she supposed to say back to Luna? She wasn’t looking at her and Luna wasn’t painting a picture too so, she couldn’t just say “Yeah, I like yours too.” So “Erh. Thanks” was going to have to suffice.
“Nice night, eh?” she sort of half-whispered a moment later feeling as if she had to say something else. Conversing wasn’t her strong suit but, Luna was family, right? She’d have to make some effort.

We are Sisters of the Night. We are Wild, we are Free. Through the Darkness, follow me... Luna was thinking to herself, trying to think of any other Gods or Goddesses that are Night related. Then, it hit her. Darkness, Erebus. Her Mother's Brother. Meaning that the girl painting was her Cousin, which was very neat to her to have a close family member that's just like her. Letting a slight smile curve her pouty lips, she looked around the room to realize that it was the one where she kept her poems, drawings and books. Walking away, she got to a busted part of the brick wall and moved some bricks away. Only to reveal her books, drawings and poems. Along with some candles. Apparent the daughter of Erebus, had the same idea with the candles. “Nice night, eh?” Looking over her shoulder, Luna nodded. "Lovely. So, umm.." She trailed off, not knowing how to ask her if her parent actually Erebus. Grabbing her art book and pencil, only to sit down and open it. Just trying to think of what to draw. "Erebus?" Luna just flat out asked. It wasn't exactly what she would have wanted to say but, at least she got out of her throat. Her green eyes somewhat glowed from the shadows, around her. Then, she realized that by her, she was in the dark. Noticing the matches by the other girl's feet, she used her powers to grab and bring them over to her so, she could light her black candles around her. Now, she knows that some Nationalities are afraid of Black candles, because they were said to be used for curses. But, after doing some research, they were used to dissolve negative energy. Lighting the candles, Luna used her powers to put the matches back by the girl. "I'm Luna, by the way." She introduced herself, to be nice and maybe gain herself a new friend. One that was a girl because she was a little tired that other girls thought she was a hussy since all of her friends so far, were guys. Wearing Outfit

The thing that Rory noticed most about Luna wasn't the faint shape that appeared on her forehead when she used her powers, or those luminescent green eyes, or even the striking similarities in the places in which they stashed their supplies. It was her hair. Luna had thick, dark locks that cascaded down her back like a black waterfall. Rory, having just chopped off her medium length hair into a semi-pixie cut couldn't imagine the upkeep for a mane like that one. She shuddered at the thought.
Luna didn't need to ask the full question just mentioning Erebus was good enough. Rory nodded, she knew what she meant. A daughter of Nyx and a daughter of Erebus shared similar powers and on some level a blood line. They did seem to have several facial similarities, the rounded chin, small physique, those bright green eyes. Rory rarely felt a connection with anyone, but there was something about Luna that gave her a tiny little spark of hope.
Rory wasn't at all offended that Luna didn't know who she was. Not many people did. But, that didn't mean that Rory didn't know who she was. She resisted the temptation to retort "I know". Instead, she half-smiled or half-attempted a smile and uttered, "Lorelei." Then she quickly added, "But, call me Rory." She was going to say "My friends call me Rory" but, then she'd be lying. And it wasn't that she was against lying because, hell she wasn't but, it just seemed to complicated to add "Well, they would if I had friends". "Nyx, right?" Rory glanced back to her painting. She knew the answer already but, felt it was only polite to ask.
"You draw?"
