Ever since Professor Benjamin Rodgers had decided that his fourteen-year-old daughter, Amelia, would be going to Richmond High School, he had been taking his acting-enthusiast spawn to any plays that the Richmond High Theatre Club performed. The college professor enjoyed watching Amelia's face bright up once every play began, laugh at every joke, frown sadly at every emotional moments.
The curtains had recently closed for the final time. The actors were lined up at the doorway of the theatre, smiling at every compliment the leaving audience members gave them, chatting happily with them and their fellow actors beside them.
Amelia and her father strode out of their seat, and hurried up the stairs. As they neared the large, metal doors, Professor Rodgers noticed that Amelia was watching a black-haired actresses. Amelia's dad nudged her slightly.
"Why don't you go talk to her, Amy?" he asked.
"Wha?" Amelia glanced over her shoulder at him, but quickly looked away. "Oh, uh...Nah."
"Why not?"
"Because..."
"Because what?"
"Just because."
Professor Rodgers grinned slightly. "Well then, if that's your reasoning, we're not leaving until you at least tell her 'hello.'"
Amelia stopped and spun around. "What!? Dad..."
"You heard me." His smile dipped into a frown. "You got to get out of your little shell and talk to somebody. Who knows? Maybe you'll make a high school friend before you're even in high school!"
A lady behind them let out a loud cough, urging them to move.
Amelia grimaced. "...Fine," she huffed, hiding the fact that a high school friend before she was actually in high school rather appealed to the daughter of Athena. Amelia turned around and marched through the past the other members of the audience, only stopping until she was only a foot away from the actress with wide, blue eyes. She opened her mouth, made a noise that sounded like a very small cough, and closed it.
Amelia looked over her shoulder to look at her father, who stood in one of the rows of chairs to let other people. He lifted up the thumb on his right hand, and smiled encouragingly.
Slowly Amelia turned back to the actress. "Um..." She cleared her throat. "Hi?"
