The salty smell of the ocean, the soft grain of the sand, the crash of each wave, the cull of the seagulls flying through the air. Everything seemed to fit together perfectly. Everything was so new, and interesting to the eyes of the young sixteen year old who was standing staring at the ocean waves. Her brown hair moved slightly in the light wind.
She wriggled her toes in the sand feeling each grain of the sand, her heart beat and she listened. Everything was at peace. Taylor had been forced to move to Richmond and go to the local school. Her mother couldn't handle her 'new and improved' child anymore. So here she was in Richmond, California. Her stuff was in her new dorm waiting to be unpacked, Taylor hadn't met her roomate. All she hoped was that her roomate wasn't a psycho who would try to be her best friend and kill everyone that Taylor was close to...Heh that would be scary. Then again in it was summer vacation most of the students would have gone home for the summer.
Taylor however was sent to the school just as it ended for the year, her mother needed time alone she guessed. Then again she couldn't blame her mother, she came home at strange hours of the night, let her grades plummet to below failing, got into fights at school, and was pretty much a wild child. But, Hey at least she wasn't drinking.
Another crash of the wave and that broke Taylor from her thoughts. She ran a hand through her hair, she hoped to make a couple friends in this town. Maybe meet a boy or two. And possibly make some enemies. I mean what town wouldn't be complete with out a few enemies? She moved closer to the water and let the waves touch the tips of her toes. She smiled as the cold water made her shiver a tad.
A feeling of something new that's what was in the air..

The waves were nice today, they were pretty often and a decent size. Blaise was at the beach early this morning and came back in the afternoon for more surfing. She was riding a killer wave when she noticed someone walk onto the shore. She carved hard into the wave and rode it out. The wave ended and Blaise fell into the ice cold water. Once she surfaced she shook her head to get the water out of her face, before she knew it another wave came and caught her off guard. It pushed her back under the water and made her do flips under the water. She could feel more waves pushing her back down, at one point she hit a rock and it cut her arm open a little. Finally she surfaced and was able to get back onto her board. She paddled in to the shore and walked out with her board under her arm.
"Hey I'm Blaise." She smiled at the girl and sat down her board then unstrapped it from her ankle. Blaise then inspected her arm a little. It wasn't as bad at the last time but still stung a little and kept bleeding.

Taylor hadn't noticed anyone on the beach she had been ranting in her head. Which lately she seemed to be doing alot. Was she going insane? Oh, wait. She already was! Well, she wasn't clinically insane. Just normal teenager insane. She felt another soft wave creep at her feet and soak her feet again. Then what caught her attention was the glint of a surfboard out in the ocean. And she watched as someone rode a very nice wave.
Her attention was focused on the surfboarder, and Taylor watched as she went under the water and come back up. She almost jumped in the water to help the surfer when she was hit by several unexpected waves and when she didn't come back up for a while. Her nerves were calmed when Taylor saw the girls head bob back up and paddle to shore.
The girl paddled to shore and smiled at Taylor as she unstrapped herself from the board. The girl introduced herself as Blaise, it took Taylor a few minutes to realize that she should introduce herself,"Oh! It's nice to meet you, that was a pretty nice wave you rode out there. Then again when you got hit with that unexpected wave and went under I was about to jump in and go after you. Anyways, I'm rambling arn't I? I'm Taylor Brayson. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
Taylor mentally smacked herself, the first person she meets in this bloody town she rambles on like a crazy person! She looked over Blaise, she noticed the wound on Blaise's arm. Now, she was never a fan of blood But, she didn't freak out about it. She knelt down and looked at the wound. It didn't look deep from what she could tell, and it wasn't bleeding profusely. But, it was still bleeding.
"Seems you have a little injury there on your arm, you okay?'' She mentally smacked herself again as she said that. Of course someone isn't okay if they have a cut on their arm, oh Taylor you realllly need to work on your people skills.

Blaise smiled as the girl introduced her self. "Nice to meet you Taylor." She figured the girl was nervous when it came to meeting new people. She laughed a little as the girl mentioned her rambling, she's met a lot of people that just ramble from nerves.
"Oh yeah I'm alright just a little scratch. I'll fix it up later not much i can do right now without any bandages." She looked down at her arm again and just shrugged it off. It wasn't the first time she had been trampled by several waves and wont be the last. That's the toll you pay when your a surfer.
Blaise sat down next to the girl in the sand and looked out on to the ocean. "So do you go to Richmond?"

Taylor usually wasn't one for rambling when it came to meeting new people, she was usually the one to be all peppy and happy and giddy to make a new friend. Maybe it was cause all the living beings shes talked to in the past couple weeks were adults over the age of twenty five? She had no idea, she listened to blaise before scratching her head. Hmm, quick remedy for scratches.
"won't stop the bleeding but it will help clean out the wound and dissinfect it a bit. Try putting a little bit of sea water on it. It will sting a crap load. But, hey its better then having your arm swell up and a doctor having to cut it off."
Taylor looked across the ocean and looked as the sun's rays glinted off the cresting ocean waves, she looked over at blaise as she spoke again. "Yep starting next semester. My mother couldn't handle this anymore." She gestured to herself as she said this, well it was true her mother couldn't handle the grpwing teenager but then again Taylor didn't think she was that bad.

Blaise sat there listening to Taylor with her feet pushed underneath the warm sand. She loved being at the ocean, it was good therapy for her. She watched the tide roll in then roll back out with a smile on her face. "Yea I guess that would work pretty well." She got up and walked over to the water then knelt down in it splashing up the cold salt water up onto her arm. This made her shiver a bit since she had already dried off. Once she finished getting all the dried blood off and cleaned the wound a little she walked back over to the girl and sat down.
Blaise started to notice a pattern with all the students at this school. Most of them were there because their parents couldn't handle them anymore. It was more like they didn't want to deal with them and wanted time to themselves. "My parents sent me here for the same reason. They said I was out of control and needed to straighten out, so this is the best thing to do. Whatever my parents don't know me all that well. Just sucks being so far from Ireland." She shrugged her shoulders and looked out into the ocean.

Taylor laid back against the grainy sand, she raised the back of her hand to her face blocking the sunlight from her eyes. The beach sounds filled her eardrums, the beach was a good place to think and clear your head. She listened to Blaise as she got up and what Taylor presumed was washed off her wound, then come back to sit with Taylor.
"My father died two...three...maybe four years ago. I don't know I don't like to keep track. Its too sad. But, he died driving back to the station the truck collided with a big rig. The doc, says he didn't feel nothin' doubt it though." Taylor closed her eyes as she said it stopping the tears that were forming in her eyes from falling down her cheeks. She breathed in deeply before speaking again, "I used to be a simple quiet girl, but after my dad's death I changed. My momma didn't know what to do with me. Then again she probably needs time alone."

Blaise laid down next to Taylor and closed her eyes as she listened to her talk about her father. She was taken back by what she was saying. What do you say to someone who has lost a parent? Blaise had no idea to be perfectly honest. Death was a hard subject, there's really nothing you can say to make them feel better unless its "hey i can bring them back!" She laughed to herself at that thought, she couldn't believe that this girl has been through something this rough.
"I'm so sorry to hear that." She had no idea what to say to her. Blaise lost her best friend about a year ago but that's nothing close to losing a parent. She guessed she kind of felt how this girl felt but then again not even close. She tried to think of ways to get her mind off of her father. She searched and searched through her mind for some kind of solution.
"I can take you for a ride on my motorcycle if you want to try something new and maybe take your mind off of this." She could hear the strain in Taylor's voice and knew that she was holding back the flood of tears she wanted to let out. Blaise reached behind and her grabbed her back pack that was sitting on the beach while she was surfing. She pulled out her sunglasses and a cigarette. Blaise lit up the cigarette and put on the sunglasses then laid back down as she took a drag from her cigarette.

Taylor didnt expect Blaise to say much, she really didnt. Not many people do after Taylor tells them her father is dead. They can't say much except sorry. Sorry cant bring the love ones back, sorry doesn't ever help. No one knew how to relate to her. Sure she wasn't a orphan, but she basically was with her mom kicking her out. And so she should just label herself one in her opinion. She then heard Blaise mention something a about a motorcycle. She'd never been on one. But hey! It didnt hurt to try!
"Sure i'd like that. Might put a little fun into this day." then she smelt the smoke of the ciggarette. She glanced over at Blaise.
"Those will kill ya yaknow." Taylor said with the slight urge to just pluck the cancer stick and break it in half.
