A knock on her door pulled Aero away from her computer. She quickly typed something before shutting it down. Amber jumped off of her lap when she stood to go and get the door. When she opened it the face of her smiling dad greeted her. Aero however was not smiling, even though that did not stop him from coming in. Amber hissed at the unwelcome guest then ran to hide.
Derrick shook his head. "She still hates me?"
Aerowen only nodded while she into the kitchen and grabbed herself a pop. Her dad stared at her, shifting his weight as he tried to control his nerves. Eventually he spoke.
"I have something I want to give you." From his pocket he pulled out a silver ring with a small and delicate emerald. He also pulled out a short silver chain. He stepped closer to her and placed both ring and chain in his daughter's hand. Aero looked down at the gifts, her eyes brimming with tears.
"They were your Mother's. She wanted you to have them when I thought something bad would happen."
"And you think something will happen?"
All he did was nod before he got a hug and wrapped his arms around his daughter. They talked some more and even started to watch TV when the Fire alarm started going off.
Both sets of ears perked up. Her dad rushed out into the hallway to see what was wrong. Aero started to fill up a duffel bag with important personal items and her large backpack with as many clothes and stuff for Amber as she could, including a small bag of cat food.
The Aero heard it. The crackling of fire and smell of smoke. Amber started mewing and was soon put into her carrier. Aerowen grabbed up her things and did her best to sneak out the window. Some fiery debris landed on her arms and before she could brush it off it burnt through her clothes and got to her skin.
Once she was down on the cement she was rushed away from the building by a Firefighter. She was about to see if Semper was there but he was most likely busy if he was. Aero was getting further away from the building when Amber started crying.
Aerowen ended up sitting on the curb. She poked her fingers into the carrier to try and calm down her frightened kitten. Still Amber mewed and poked her paw out.
Aero sighed and then cried out when a hand touched her shoulder. She turned sharply to see that it was her injured dad as he sat beside her. She embraced him and he groaned weakly in pain. She called up a gentle breeze to help soothe the burns. It was all that she could do before the tears started falling and her dad stopped moving.
Within the next couple hours his body was taken aways and the building was burnt to the ground. That left her homeless and alone. Her only belonging were what she had managed to grab.
There was only one place she could think of to go. She just hoped that he was willing to take her in. After the fire was out she started walking. After about half an hour she was there. She looked up at the mansion that belonged to Xi. A few burns covered her arms and her clothes, face and everything else was covered in ash.
Still she walked up to the house. Ash stained tears ran down her cheeks. She put down her stuff and knocked on the door. It had been under three hours since she had talked to him online. She hoped he was still up and home. [/blockquote]

notes: omg that was such poop! like, poop to the max. running out I was about to go to sleep when I heard a rap on the door. Who the hell would come to my house at this kind of night? Nothing ventured, nothing gained... I thought randomly, while I walked swiftly to the door. I realized I wasn't even wearing a shirt, and the only thing on my lower deck was a pair of black boxers. Well, it's probably a rapist. I reasoned. Might as well make his job easier. So walk I did, my bare feet pressing to the cold black marble. When I finally got to the door, I took a very deep breath in and then out. I heard the door handle twist and the large wooden frame swing open. I realized my hand was attached to the knob. Too late for me to realize I should've looked through the window first. Because there, covered in burns and ash, was Aerowen Kalren.
Frankly, the poor girl looked terrible. Her brown hair was topped with a large amount of ash, and tear tracks laced her eyes. Her arms were burnt, as were her clothes. I looked into her eyes, and in that one instant, instinct ruled over my embarrassment; I reached out, and pulled Aero into a hug. "Aero, what happened?" I whispered in her ear. I could've guessed by the physical evidence, but I needed to hear it from her. words: 231. tags: aero. muse: our time is running out - muse.

Aero looked down at Amber in her carrier. What would she do about her kitten? What would she do about the rest of her life? Amber's paw poked out of the carrier yet again just when Aero was about to give up hope. He must have been asleep. She was just about to turn around when the handle twisted and the door opened. Aero's eyes caught onto Xi's almost instantly, the first thing she saw was a lack of clothes. Crap! He had been asleep, or just about to go to sleep. Maybe he didn't mind staying up a bit longer?
She was about to say something when it got caught in her throat like a choke hold. Then she was in his arms, his skin warm compared to her overly hot burns and the rest of her pale cold skin. Was it alright? No, but right then and there everything felt better.
"Aero, what happened?" He spoke softly into her ear.
Then her frame started to tremble with weakness, her knees threatening to give out on her. She would not let them. She had to stay strong enough to tell him what happened. Her arms wrapped around him, even though it set her burns a blaze with renewed pain. She rested her chin on his shoulder. She had to speak at some point.
"I don't know how it started. The alarm was going off, my dad went to check it out. I gathered as much as I could then got out my window. Something on fire fell onto my arms as I climbed down the stupid metal ladder. Then when I touched ground I was rushed away by a Firefighter. It took a long time for the ambulance to get there. He's gone, the fire took him!" Then Aero changed, even though the words and started to slurr together anyhow. The tears started to fall and the trembling only got worse as she tried to stiffle the sobs. It felt like she was choking.

notes: well that was much better. :D. running out "I don't know how it started. The alarm was going off, my dad went to check it out. I gathered as much as I could then got out my window. Something on fire fell onto my arms as I climbed down the stupid metal ladder. Then when I touched ground I was rushed away by a Firefighter. It took a long time for the ambulance to get there. He's gone, the fire took him!" Aero sobbed, the words blurring together like a paint in water. I could feel her head on my shoulder, and her glacial skin warring with mine. She looked about ready to break. I scooped her up, bridal-style, in my arms, and set her on the couch. Poor girl... Okay, okay, you have a burnt, hurt girl in your house. I thought, walking to my enormous kitchen. Athena, you'd better know how to cook, because I sure as hell don't. The thing I made was incredibly simple; over-medium eggs and bacon. They cooked incredibly quickly. Thank the gods for state-of-the-art titanium ovens. The food smelled really good, and I had a desire to eat it myself. But that would've been selfish. I had to think about Aero.
I walked back to the living room, the plate of food resting on my left palm, and a pair of sweatpants dangling from my right arm. I set the tray on the coffee table in front of the black leather couch, and pulled the sweats on quickly. Well, at least there wasn't any possibility of revealing myself. I sat in the middle of the couch, as close to Aerowen as I could handle. "I'm sorry." I mumbled lamely. "About your father, I mean." Then I was silent, waiting for Aero to do something. Anything to show that my friend was alright. My battle instincts were screaming at me to find the person who had started the fire, and strangle them with my bare hands. My sympathetic instincts whispered words of reassurance to me, which I was probably supposed to repeat. But I didn't. I remained where I was, hunched forward next to a person in pain. words: 356. tags: aero. muse: all around me - flyleaf.

Had she made the right choice? She had no clue. Then she was suprised when she was scooped up into his arms. She didn't want the warmth to go away but then he set her on the black leather couch. She was about to say something to him but then whatever she was going to say was caught in her throat and he started to walk away. It looked like he was going into the kitchen. She looked at the table and grabbed a kleenx out of the box and started to wipe at her eyes. When she pulled away the tissue it was almost black. That was when Aerowen realized just how bad she looked. She looked at the tissue, rather insulted. She took another one and continued to just wipe at her face.
But then Xi returned. A pair of sweats in one hand and, suprisingly, a plate of bacon and eggs in the other. She looked at the plate, realizing that she had not eaten dinner. She was going to with her dad after they watched a show on TV. But that had been cut short. She fought to hide the tears that were threatening again. She politely looked away when he pulled on the sweat pants he had brought before sitting down. Aero just stared at her lap when he spoke.
Then she turned her head slightly to look at him. Her eyes seemed like they were in a haze. Clouded. She turned away before he could see anything further.
"He had a feeling something would happen." Then Aero pulled the silver ring with the small single dark emerald and the delicate silver chain. She undid the chain and slipped it through the ring before slowlydoing it up again. The cold ring rested against the base of her throat. She grasped it gently before picking up the plate and setting it in her lap. Then she grabbed the fork and used the side to cut a part of the egg off. She looked at it for a second before putting it into her mouth. It was warm and tasted as good as it smelled. She ghuckled weakly once she was done chewing.
"Turns out you can make eggs better than me." Then she started to nibble on the bacon. Her stomach warming with the food but Aero had no clue what else to do. [/blockquote]

notes: *waves team xi remembering the cat banner* :D. running out Aerowen's head shifted ever so slightly to give me a good look at her eyes. Even if their gaze held for a single instant, I got enough. She was in pain. Whether physical, or emotional, or both, I didn't know. All I knew was that she clearly needed somebody. My brain shoved itself into overdrive, and covered the atmosphere with an imaginary echo of Use Somebody by the Kings of Leon. Really!? I thought at the part of my brain that retained the desire to hear this music. Way to fuck the moment up! The sound dissipated instantly, and the music was no longer playing in my head. Partially, I was thankful; I didn't need a montage right now. I needed sense. My taste warred with that, screaming unhelpful lyrics at me. I ignored them.
"He had a feeling something would happen." Aero said quietly. In her hands were now two small, glittering pieces of jewelry. A thin silver chain and an emerald ring about the width of my thumbnail. She fumbled with the necklace, lacing it through the ring, and placed it around her neck. Aero grasped it for a moment, and then reached for the tray. Using the fork I had set on the tray, she sliced a small portion of an egg and put it in her mouth. Had I remembered to put butter on them? I breathed in. Yep. It was definitely there. "Turns out you can make eggs better than me." Aero commented, chuckling weakly. I snorted. "More like Athena's read one too many cook books." I returned, half-smiling. Then a thought occurred to me; "Crap! I left your things outside!" I didn't wait for a response. I darted out the door and scooped her things up at once. Tiny mewling filled the air. The kitten! I thought, horrified. It was in the house instantly, and I took it out of it's cage. What was it's name? Maya? Emily? I decided it didn't matter, and walked back to the living room, the little kitten cradled in my arms. words: 343. tags: aero. muse: chasing pavements - adele.

Aero looked up at him again. The half smile on his face warmed her slightly but it seemed to vanish almost instantly. She continued to nibble on a peice of bacon.
"Crap! I left your things outside!"
No he hadn't, technically Aero had. She had been planning on asking him if she could come in and be polite. Then she had gotten a hug and swept off her feet when she was so close to breaking down. Aero went to put the bacon down and go and help but just as she went to push herself up the scab that covered the bleeding burn on her arm broke open and she bit her lip to hold back the cry of pain. She got up anyhow and Xi was just coming back into the living room. She blinked in confusion, it seems like she had somehow missed a fewminutes of her life. It felt weird.
Aero shook it off and moved towards Xi, looking at Amber with her clouded eyes. Amber sparked up a new bit of pain, memories flooded into her mind. She mentally pushed them away and took both her kitten and Xi into a hug. She felt so weak, she hated it. Then she pulled away from Xi slightly, not sure if she should be that close anyhow.
Then she gasped out in pain when Amber started licking at the broken scab. With her hand she pushed the kitten's head away gently.
"Thats not a good idea Amber." She looked up again, this time her gaze examing his face. Was he starting to look tired? Her eyes seemed to have less grey to them and more blue but that soon faded.
"You look like you could use some sleep. You should go and get some, it is late. You wont have to worry about me, I probably should not have come here anyhow. I will be gone by morning." She looked back down at Amber, not wanting to meet his gaze much longer. She wanted to just start screaming and crying, she did not want to be alone. That was the last thing on her mind, but then why did those words come out of her mouth? She did not know but she did not want to bug Xi, he was a nice guy and everything and he did not deserve to have someone like her moping around his house. [/blockquote]

notes: xi + aero = best friends? wtf, xi. running out Aerowen stood up. Oh, good. At least she can move. I thought, relieved. I felt the kitten--Amber! That was the name!--be taken from my arms, and then Aero's arms around me. She pulled back after a few seconds, and then gasped in apparent pain. I tensed, but relaxed almost instantly as Aero spoke; "That's not a good idea, Amber." Aero looked at my face. I could feel my body wanting to sleep, but I warred with the urge, and won. "You look like you could use some sleep. You should go and get some, it is late. You won't have to worry about me, I probably should not have come here anyhow. I will be gone by morning." Aero said to me. I was shocked. Aero? Leaving? Where would she go? What about Amber? With her father gone, how was she going to pay rent? What was my now best friend supposed to do? "No!" I blurted out. "Um. Uh, I mean...you could stay here. At least for a while. Please. I have too many rooms for me to fill." I would've been angry with myself if I wasn't still maternally protective of Aerowen. words: 196. tags: aero. muse: perfect - p!nk.

Splitting seams, Aero stayed looking down at the kitten. Her fur had always been soft. Petting it only made it softer and Aero hide her face somewhat into Amber's fur. Aero even breathed in deeply, inhaling the familiar smell of her kitten. Nothing felt familiar anymore. Even the feeling she got around Xi was unfamiliar. She was not totally sure how she felt about him anymore. Well she had an idea but she was not going to act on it. At least she was trying not to act on it. That so far was easier said than done.
His outburst of "No" made her jump and Amber got all fuzzed out. Poor kitten, at least after that Xi spoke in a soft voice. Did he actually mean that? Aero looked up at him, feeling extremely conflicted. She wanted to take the offer right then and there but something was stopping her. Her pain was making her think differently. "I don't think I could do that. No matter how much I want to there is no way I can without causing some sort of problem." Aero could not look him straight in the eye. Her eyes clouded but tears started to form. She turned her head to the side so that her hair fell into her eyes and hide the tears. notes: *doodles hearts on a notebook* lolwut?. running out "I don't think I could do that. No matter how much I want to there is no way I can without causing some sort of problem." Aero said, not looking at me. Her head lolled to the side, and her hair fell into her face. For a fraction of a second, I was worried. Then I was irritated. Why the hell would she leave? I knew Aerowen Kalren to be a lot of things, but unintelligent was definitely not one of them. But what ulterior motive could she possibly have for refusing a house? For free, no less. "Oh, yes, you most certainly can do that!" I told her. I wasn't concerned half-naked guy anymore. I was Xi Maxwell Coleman; son of Athena. "Don't leave. It would be great to have you here, Aero! Do you realize how lonely it gets in a fifteen-thousand square foot house all to yourself? Unbelievably so. So stay. It'll be fun. For both of us. Plus, I've got about twenty different guest rooms." I sat back down next to Aerowen. Was she crying? Whatever. If she leaves, I swear, I'll get the entire damned army to search for her. I promised. words: 197. tags: aero. muse: perfect - p!nk.

What am I doing?, Aero looked down at the kitten and did not say a thing. His words tumbling over her mind.
"Oh, yes, you most certainly can do that! Don't leave. It would be great to have you here, Aero! Do you realize how lonely it gets in a fifteen-thousand square foot house all to yourself? Unbelievably so. So stay. It'll be fun. For both of us. Plus, I've got about twenty different guest rooms."
Her mind just could not wrap around it. Can I actually stay? Her jaw opened as if she would speak and then snapped it closed with an audible click of her teeth. Her mouth smashed into a thin line as she thought about it. If I stay then I have a home... and time to think about how I feel about Xi, and everything else. I also don't want to be alone. This is almost too perfect. She rubbed at her cheeks and under her eyes to make sure all the tears were gone. Then she looked over at xi, her eyes not so clouded as they once had been. They looked almost normal, besides the little bit of red that came from all the tears. Her eyes examined him, taking in his body language and the vibe that seemed to pour off of him. Then she sighed and smiled softly. "Fine then spoiled Princess." She spoke in a playful tone. "you get your wish. I will stay but on a few conditions. One, I can redecorate the room if I dont like it. Two, I do the shopping. And three, I get to cook and bake when I feel like it." She tapped her fingers as she listed off her points.
