A combination of nerves and excitement coursed through Aero's veins. Her place was a total mess. It did not help that her dad was also at her place. He was drunk, terribly drunk. He was at his worst, and Aero would rather of had nobody coming over till he was gone but right now he was asleep. That meant once he woke up he would be gone, leaving a mess for Aero to clean up and a kitten to comfort. Amber was not a big fan of her dad. The poor kitten would always get harassed with her dad around. Especially when he was drunk.
Aero only hoped that Amber was hiding under her bed.
Other than her messy place Aero was happy with what she had made. She had taken chicken breasts covered them in flour, then an egg wash before covering them in crushed cornflakes and then baked them in the oven. A pot of potatoes had been boiled then mashed with butter and milk till they were nice and creamy with no lumps. Then as a vegetable she had boiled up some corn. Dessert had been agreed upon by both Semp and Xi so Aero had not argued. For dessert was a pan of brownies layered in cookie dough then baked.
She hoped the boys liked it. Xi as far as she knew had more expensive tastes and Semper she did not know well at all. Her phone vibrated again and she looked at the time before checking her phone. It was a text from Xi, letting her know that he was awake and almost there. She had already gotten one from Semp saying he was close as well. She was already sitting on the stairs that lead up to the second floor as she waited for her company to arrive. She wanted to get back up stairs as soon as possible to make sure that Amber was safe. Her dad could be up soon and then he would leave or Aero would kick him out. Either way he would be leaving.

As I drove through the downtown area, I looked around at the places that I hadn't seen in months. The graffiti-covered apartment buildings, the old, white-and-black cars, the miscellaneous debris that tumbled through the streets... Holy Hera! I thought in exasperation. Next opportunity I get, I'm getting this place cleaned...it sort of needs it. Besides, it's for the benefit of the people, not me. I pulled to a stop, locking my ostentatious red Ferrari in front of the apartment building I was supposed to be. I walked through to the door, pressed the appropriate buzzer for the room, and awaited a reply.

I didn't mind downtown at all. Sure, it was rundown and could use touch ups, but for some people, this was home. To some people, these rickety apartments might've been the same way that the barn back home was to me: home. It was nothing fancy, but the people I loved were there and to me, that's home. Having any sort of roof over your head is good, too. Or maybe this is just the down-to-earth part of me speaking. Anyway...
I headed up the sidewalk -- I didn't bother to drive -- and saw Xi standing over by a building. I bet that was it, so I texted Aero and told her I was there. Xi still set me on edge quite a bit, so I was going to try and at least be on good behavior for now, but I wasn't going to do anything in front of Aero unless he really crossed the line. And knowing his attitude, he probably will. Ripred save us all.

Aero's phone went off again and she pulled it out. It was another text from Semp. Looks like he was here. Aero picked herself up and dusted off her pants and took a deep breath. As she walked down she saw two sets of shoes. Once she got to the door she saw Xi as well. A buzzing sound could be heard and Aero swore under her breath. She rushed to open the door.
"Hey guys."
She looked at Xi and the buzzer. "You rang the buzzer didn't you?" She took a few steps back and let the guys in before she closed the door. She rushed up the stairs, hopefully with the guys in tow. Once she was almost to her door yowling could be heard. Defiantly a cat and a young one by how high pitched it was. Aero swore and rushed to the door to open it. Her place was actually a decent size. There was a small hallway with a closet and a boot mat. Then once you stepped out of it there was a large open space which was rather 'L' shaped. The part closest to the door was what would have been considered a living room if it was not such a mess with the back part being the dining room. There was a counter that separated the kitchen from the dining room to make a square. A door was closed on their left which was Aero's room. The door beside that was the bathroom and sadly did not connect to the bedroom. Then there was another small room on that side which acted as both a computer room with a TV and a mini library and storage room. The kitchen had as much stuff as Aero could afford, even a dishwasher and any appliance she would need. A large round wooden table was what she used as a dining table with four chairs around it with another two pressed against the wall. Her living room had a dark blue couch which faced a decent sized 32 inch TV that was a flat screen as well as black. Against the wall sat a blue chair to match the couch. Right beside it was a window which was partially open. On the other side of the couch was a love seat which was set diagonally so that it could still be used to watch the TV. The carpeted floor was covered in bits of paper and bottles and cans of beer. Other bits of garbage also litter the floor. And crumbs and bits of chocolate. Aero look to see that Derrick, her father, had already decided to be an absolute pain and had already cut into the desert. A wind started to pick up as Aero got more and more furious as her eyes finally caught on her dad. The yowling was louder now as they found the source of the noise. Derrick was being a total asshole and was holding the poor calico kitten up in the air by a hind paw and her tail. Amber squealed in protest and pain. Aero rushed forward, her movements looking jagged and unpredictable like a storm as she ripped across the room. Derrick's eyes went wide as he dropped the kitten with Aero just barely catching her. Amber mewed constantly till Aero had the kitten in the cradle of her arm. Aero's eye flung daggers at her dad. "And what do you brats want?" Derrick glared at the two boy's not able to even look at his daughter. "Did she invite you over for dinner? How sweet. She even made desert and after that she would ask for some other kind of desert." Derrick growled. Aero only got worse at what he was implying. Aero was actually clow to bursting. ((Reaction time and OMG that is a big post!))[/blockquote]

I saw Semper walking up the street. His long legs made enormous strides. I hadn't always realized how...big he was. It was almost intimidating. He got his phone out and sent a quick message to someone, while I gave a crooked smile to him. Aero showed up, groaning as she heard the buzzer go off. "You rang the buzzer, didn't you?" Aero lamented. I looked, alarmed, into her eyes, apologies on my expression. I'd forgotten that she had an obnoxious father to deal with. "Holy Styx!" I said, trying to change the unspoken subject. "Something smells good, Aero!" I heard the yowling of a cat. Aero swore under her breath, and I sucked in a breath in rage. I liked animals. Cats in particular. The fact that anyone could make an animal sound like that was just plain repulsive.
We arrived at the door, and I was taken aback by the room I now faced. Really, it was a good size. Though littered with empty (and partially full) beer bottles and cans and other debris, it would have been very nice. The only drawback was the greasy, obviously drunk man in the middle of the room. "And what do you brats want?" The irritating man asked, staring at Semper and I. No, not staring. Glaring was a more accurate description. I didn't even bother to respond. Something about his rude tone and hermit-like posture just made me want to shove a gun down his throat. Or a knife. Or any deadly object in particular. It could only be Aerowen's father. How the hell could Aura ever be attracted to...well, to him!? I thought, utterly shocked. "Did she invite you over for dinner? How sweet. She even made dessert and after that she would ask for some other kind of dessert." He continued. I immediately saw the double meaning in the last sentence. I was this close to just unleashing my pent-up demigod rage on this dimwit, but I held it back, realizing that it wouldn't make much sense to anyone if I did.

I followed her up the stairs, pointedly ignoring Xi for the time being. I wasn't going to really even acknowledge that he was there unless I had to, and I really hoped I wouldn't.
When we got to her apartment, I wasn't expecting what I saw. There were beer bottles everywhere.... and the smell of alcohol was overwhelming. Almost instantly my palms became clammy and my hands trembling. I wanted alcohol -- needed it. Ripred dammit, I knew there was going to be alcohol here, but I didn't think I'd react this way. My mouth was dry and I was craving the bittersweet taste of the liquid. I tried to look away, but that didn't help since I could still smell it. But that all went away as soon as I saw what the guy was doing to the small cat.
He was holding the kitten upside down by her leg and tail, which made me instantly forget the alcohol. The Demeter part of me was quickly taking over. "Why were y' holdin' the cat upside down like that?" I asked in a calm manner, though it was obvious that it had irritated me.

Aero was glad that all the guys could not see her face. The wind that was pulling around her was the only thing that they could see that indicated her annoyance.
"He has a nasty habit of not liking animals. I was hoping that amber would have been hiding so she was safe. I guess not."
Aero turned around and stepped in front of Semper, offering him the kitten. He was a son of Demeter, he would easily be able to calm down the trembling kitten. Plus he looked a bit uncomfortable and she remembered what they talked about online. At least if he focused on Amber she could clean up the floor and rid the place of the smell. "Please, it will help." She waited till he took her little Amber. Then she turned to Xi. "Can you go to the fridge and grab us all some drinks? I have pretty much anything you can think of, at least pop wise. I would like a Dr. Pepper if you don't mind." The look in her eyes was pleading. She would rather him be busy then helping her 'remove' her dad. Then she sighed and pulled her dad over to the door. She was happy that she had never given him a key. "I think it would be a good time for you to go home." Aero opened up the door and made it obvious that she wanted him to leave. "I guess I might as well, leave you to your fun." He sneered then raised his voice. "I hope you guys have a fun time! Might as well drop the pants down before Aerowen here rips them off!" He grinned a terrible drunk grin and slowly hobbled off. Aero slammed the door and before she could stop herself her fist slammed into the wall by the door. Her face was down but anyone would be able to tell what was on her mind. Her hair covered her eyes slightly as her frame started to tremble. She kept her face hidden slightly as she opened up the window and beckoned the air to pull the smell out of the room. The she grabbed a garbage bag and started to pick up the bottles and cans, no matter if they still had beer in them or not. "Sorry Semper, I didn't think it would be this bad." She placed the bag by the garbage can and wiped at her forehead.[/blockquote]

Even though Aero's father was being put out like the terrible dog he was, I still felt like shoving a knife down his throat. I walked into the kitchen, grabbing the first three bottles I saw. Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, and, depressingly, a Sun Drop. I was overcome by a terrible image of Semp, Aero, and myself all wearing tights and short-shorts, dancing around like maniacs. A hysterical giggle escaped my lips while I strolled back into the shithole living room. Aero was offering Semper the kitten, and I offered him the Sun Drop, because I wasn't going to give him anything that tasted even moderately like alcohol. So I stood next to Semp with one can in my left hand and another in my right hand.

It's people like this man that make me mad. What the hell could that kitten possibly have done to get the guy to hold her by her leg and tail? That was just cruel. I absentmindedly narrowed my eyes onto the man, glaring icily at him until Aero was suddenly at my side, holding the cat out to me. I reached over and gently took her, holding her securely and softly stroking her fur. The poor thing, she must be scared out of her wits. In my large arms and underneath my abnormally sized hand, the kitten looked like something miniature. Then again, a lot of things were miniature to me.
I stood there petting the kitten for a good while, trying to calm her down and not really paying attention to what else was going on around me. I didn't even really smell the overwhelming aroma of alcohol, which I was thankful for. I was still somewhat trembling from a sudden withdrawal attack, but since my mind was focused on Amber, the tremors were fading slowly.
"S'alright..." I murmured quietly, not really paying attention to what I was saying or who I was answering. It took me another good few minutes to realize that Xi was offering me a Sun Drop, which I accepted and just put into my pocket, going back to stroking the kitten gently.

When Amber was placed into the hands of another person she started mewing her little mew. She was starting to sound like a car alarm despite the fact that Semper was petting her. She looked around as she mewed, like a deer trapped on the road with headlights coming towards it. Poor Amber. Once she saw that the evil man who had tortured her was gone she slowly stopped her mewing. She sniffed at the large hand under her and even licked it before mewing and turned to blink up at him with large grayish blue eyes. She even placed her paws on his chest to sniff at his chin. Then she rubbed on it and started purring.
Aero looked at her kitten fondly, happy that she was doing alright now. She had never actually had people at her house, besides her dad. Aero wanted to make sure that her dad had not dug around in her room. She opened the door enough to peer in and it took everything in her not to blow up at that moment. Herr room was not the normal slight mess it normally was. The contents of her top drawer was spilled all over the floor. Which meant bra and panties. When she pulled away her face was still a light red as she closed the door behind her. She wandered back into the kitchen. She cut into the brownie-cookie concoction and made three decent sized bar. She put them on small plates then put the corn, mashed potatoes and chicken in the oven to warm up. In the whole commotion they had gotten a little too cold for Aero to serve.
She left one plate in the kitchen and grabbed the other two. A good hostess served her guest before herself. One plate was balanced on her palm while the other rested in the crook of that same arm. With her free hand she grabbed the Dr. Pepper that Xi gotten for her.
"Thanks,"
She smiled at him and offered Xi and Semp the plates she held. "Some desert before dinner to lighten the mood?" She smiled at both of them. "I hope this was what your idea was." She looked at the brownie with a layer of cookie on top. The brownie was still fudgey and the chocolate chips were still nicely melted. A hopefully perfect combination of the two deserts.[/blockquote]
