Look, so I understand I always have something incredibly awesome and witty to say that makes everyone's day. But lately the only thing I've been able to think about is the last thing I said to Chicago before she vanished. Completely vanished. That night plays over in my mind like a broken record, bringing a wave of mixed emotions along with it. We stayed up all night long, watching a slew of horror movies that contained miserable acting and buckets of fake blood until he finally passed out at the crack of dawn. We rambled on about boys, our nails, clothes, girl talk. I could hardly believe that the best and closet friend of mine was getting married, and that I would get to be there for her. Had she asked me only a year earlier, I would have been an awful drunken hot mess in a braids maid dress. I owe a lot to her, and I don't think she'll ever know how much I appreciated all the little things she did for me when I least deserved it. "Come on Hayley, don't be so damn hard on yourself!" When I started to look up, she pointed me in the right direction and kept me going.
Then there was Semper. I can't imagine going through the shit he's gone through and still come out a better person in the end, without losing my bloody mind in the process. The two of them were some of the best friends I had ever had, and one of them was gone. How the hell can I expect everyone else to be strong when I'm hardly holding myself together?
