Callix stared at the monkey bars. Monkey bars. His worst enemy. Ever since he was a little boy, he'd never been able to cross the Monkey Bars all the way across. It was embarrassing; even more now that he was older. But he was a teenage now; why would he want to play on a jungle gym anyways? Cause they're awesome!
He threw his baseball glove down on the dust ground. He'd heard that there were sometimes pickup games at the fields in the park. There'd been none today, but he'd played catch with some other kids. It was nice to pretend to be normal again. His cleats were hanging from his neck, the shoe strings tied together. He placed the shoes beside his glove on the ground, and returned his attention to the Monkey Bars.
There were three bars to step on, and then the actual bars. Callix was tall enough to skip the first bar and go straight to the second step bar. He reached up and grabbed the first bar, and moved up to the third step. He had to crouch because he was too tall. He must have looked ridiculous on this child's play set. Then he swung off, and on to the second bar away. His dangled there; his feet six inches off the ground. Callix hadn't realized on the ground just how long this track of bars was. Faaaiilll.
He swung three more bars, and decided to give up. He dropped to the ground, dust flying up around his black Converses. He slid his hands into his short pockets, and moved to collect his things.
Where would he go though? He didn't have many friends back at the dorm to hang out with; at least, not yet. He looked up at the sky. It was starting to get dark, maybe there would be some stars out. Monkey bars may be his worst enemy, but they are the best place to watch the stars.
Callix jumped up, grabbing a bar just above him. He swung his long legs up and into the space between two bars; he locked his knees around the metal, and with some twisting and pulling, got himself on top of the bars.
I think I'm too big for that any more,
[/color] he told the bars. Callix stretched out, wiggling to get comfortable on the hard metal. He bent his knees, resting the soles of his feet on the bar farthest down. Some lights came on around him, and the sun sank deeper behind the trees and hills. He could start to see the stars, faintly. So,[/color] he said, thinking he was alone, I'm still not getting this demi-god thing. Could anyone out there help me?[/color] [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Abby sighed, she resorted to playing on a childs swingset. Seriusly, she really had no other thing to do. She did have one friend, but he seemed to have dissapered to another dimention. She did have a cousin who goes here, well he never talks to her, I mean he has his own life. She got off her blue bike and parked it. She grabbed the chain and put it on, but not relaizing that she put it on wrong. She stood there for a moment letting her legs rest. It was a long biking ride from the school to the playground. She asked herslef why she even came here. Who knows, for some reason the little voice she hears in her head said "Go to the park" she listened cause she had nothing else to do, as I mentioned ealier. She walked over to the wooden gate and opened it. She took off her flip-flops and set them on a brach in a nearby three hoping no one would steal them, her rainbows were her favorite shoes. She walked over to the swings and sat down on them. She started to pump her legs back and forth causing a motion that made her swing. She loved the wind flowing through her hair, maybe her mother would make it extra windy today. She noticed another kid her age playing on the monkey bars. She giggled as he let go on the fifth one (random number). He seemed fimiliar. She shook her head and kept swinging. Then it clikced. That was Callix, the cute boy she had meet the other day. He said something she couldnt quite make out. Then he said something else: "So, I'm still not getting this demi-god thing. Could anyone out there help me?" She decided to get off the swing an wak over and talk to him. "I know how you feel. I mean is god not real, or are they both real. Can you be the son of god?" She said behind him, he didnt see him so she hoped she didnt startle him

A soft voice jolted him. He turned his head, looking down between the bars. It was a girl; and not just any girl. It was Abby, from the Lawns. And she'd heard him. Mary!
Oh, um hi,
[/color] he said, sitting up on the bars. Don't think I'm crazy or anything. I uh, have this test on Greek mythology! Yeaa..[/color] There he goes, blowing secrets like they're Dandelions. He was going to be in so much trouble but wait; Abby had this look on her face. She looked almost sad. Her voice was very calm, there was no joking. Callix thought back to the feeling he'd gotten when he first met her on the Lawns. I was raised Catholic, so I believe. Just, going through culture shock, I guess,[/color] he gave a weak laugh and sighed. He swung his legs over the bar, and jumped down next to the girl. He was taller then her, by a few inches at the most. She was really pretty. Abby, right? So, you're a demi-god too?[/color] Callix couldn't believe his luck. Here was a pretty girl, the same age as him, going through the same problem. Finally he had a friend in this stupid place! Or, he would. Cause they weren't really friends, yet. More like acquaintances. Callix's mind began to drift away, running throw all the things that he and Abby could be. I was beginning to think I'd never figure out who was around here,[/color] he gave her a cheesy smile, and nodded to the swings. Wanna go sit on the swing and talk? Or I could help you up on the bars?[/color][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]
notes ;; sorry it took so long: i got distracted [/font][/size]

She asked for his help up on the bars. Callix smiled, and followed her over to the bar steps. Alright, just climb up to the third bar, and I'll do the rest.
[/color] Her waited for her to do so, and then held out a cupped hand. Alright, grab the first wrung, and put your foot in my hand. I'll push, and you pull.[/color] Once she was up on top of the bars, He made his way up next to her, sitting on the corner of on of the square spaces. One leg stretched down into the space, and the other went over the side of the bars; bent at the knee. All alone. With nothing but the stars coming through. Lightning bugs would start to flash soon, and it'd be a wonderful night. He looked over at Abby, getting comfortable on the metal bars herself. So, who's your dad? Or, mom?[/color][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

My dad's Dionysus. Got me in serious trouble back at my old school.
[/color] Why did he say that? He hardly knew her and he brought up something right off the bat that he didn't even like talking about with the kids that were there! Soo stupid. Maybe she wouldn't ask. Aura, that's cool. I don't know why, but I always assumed that only the twelve big gods would have kids.[/color] He shrugged the thought away. All of this was blasphemy! But, Abby didn't seem evil. She was cute, and nice. He smiled, and turned his head to the sky. More stars were out now, and the sky was darker. There's Orion.[/color] He looked back at her and smiled. What now? Callix was never awkward around people. Except sometimes girls. Who were pretty. And new demi-gods. Cause he didn't know what in God's name he was. So, you're new here too? Think it'll be hard?[/color] He hoped not. It was like any other high school, only half the students had to take dangerous classes and learn how to fight and kill monsters and survive in Hades and and bunch of other ancient history. Literally. As if the thought of high school and freshmen hazing and calculus wasn't scary enough. Throw in demi-god training. Yeaa. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Abby smiled. It was completly dark. It was reall romantic, except for the face that they were sitting ona childs playset, but who cares. She coughed as a bug went in her thought. She spit it out, which probably really turned him off. He said he was the son of Dionysus. She knew it, I mean. He loves life, hes funny, storng, cute. Perfect Dionysus kid. She wondered if he drank alot. Even if he was too young, I mean he is the son of Dionysus. He seemed to innocent to do that. He said that Aura probably didnt have many kids becuase shes a minor god. Then she was one of the few. Then he asked her if she was new here. "Yea, I'm new here. I think next year when Im a rela freshman at this school, it'll be better" She sounded wierd saying that. She was going into the school next year.

Callix sighed, relieved. They'd be in the same grade; the same classes even. The might even live near each other in the dorms. It'd make this demi-god thing a lot easier, going through it with some else who didn't seem to know much about it.
Me too. Hopefully we'll have some classes together. I heard there's a different curriculum for the demi-god students. It's suppose to be harder.
[/color] He smiled at her. She seemed so soft and cute and easy going. How was she suppose to go through training like they had. Not that girls couldn't be tough, but Abby just didn't seem like the kind of girl to fight with swords. Then again, how was he going to pass the classes? Do you think this school will be hard?[/color][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]
notes ;; sorry, it's bad. i'm just soo tired. [/font][/size]

Callix bit his lip. His mother's story was not a happy one.. Callix had never known his mother was a street kid, not until he turned those grapes into wine. He hardly knew Abby, he didn't want her to think he came from bad stalk or something.
Um, I guess the used to hang out a lot, when my mom was a kid. Party and stuff,
[/color] he laughed, a little nervously. Go figure right? My mom never got too drunk around Dionysus though; he kind of stopped it. One night someone slipped, mom got too drunk and, well. Here I am,[/color] he gave another weak laugh. Sex was such an awkward subject for him. He could probably blame it on his Youth Pastor who was a physical nazi. No touching. At all. Like, not even holding hands in public! The guy grew up during the Spanish Inquisition, so it wasn't too hard to understand why he was so anal. But it was drilled into his head, and Callix was embarrassed by the topic of sex. I've never met my dad though. My real dad; Dionysus. How about you? Know your mom and dad's story?[/color] A light breeze was blowing now; it felt really nice actually. Callix wondered if it was Abby making the wind. If she could do that at all. Maybe it was her emotions; maybe she didn't know how her powers worked either, like him. Everything was so confusing. Except, he didn't feel confused right now. He felt good, sitting up on the bars with her. He smiled, looking at her in the dim star light. Soo, you're new, huh? Do you have anyone here you know? Cousin, or boyfriend?[/color][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Callix listened to her parents' story. Besides the storm destroying their house and killing her grandfather, it was a lot nicer than his. He was conceived out debauchery, but her parents had been in love. His mother told her she loved the god; but how many women had he loved?
Callix turned his attention to the stars again, hoping Abby couldn't see him blushing. She hadn't answered his question yet. She probably did have a boyfriend. Ahh. He was about to speak again, when he saw a movement out of the corner of his eye. Before he could react, Abby was screaming on the ground.
Abby!
[/color] he yelled, jumping down from the bars. He landed hard on his feet and stumbled down to the ground next to her. He wanted to pick her up, but she'd landed on her head. The first-aid class he'd taken at the YMCA had taught him not to move a head injury victim. Abby! Abby can you hear me? It's Callix.[/color] He touched the back of her head. She had a small cut, where she was bleeding lightly. He felt her pulse, and checked her breathing. Everything seemed fine, but she was unconscious. Abby, can you hear me? It's Callix, remember? Abby you hit your head, we need to get your help. Are you awake? Can you hear me?[/color] This was a lot different then the class.. Callix wasn't sure what to do. He couldn't pick her up and carry her; it might hurt her more. He was still pretty new, and he didn't think he could give directions to the 911. He quickly crossed himself. [color=Glorious Archangel St. Raphael, great prince of the heavenly court, you are illustrious for your gifts of wisdom and grace.[/color] But as he prayed, something suddenly felt wrong inside him. He heard a whispering voice, but couldn't understand what it said. Something had told him to spot praying to the archangel he had always sought, and look to another power. Callix racked his brain. Um, Apollo, sir? I know you're suppose to be a great healer. So, if you could help my friend? Please?[/b][/color] He felt foolish, but at the same time the whispering in his mind stopped. He'd done what it wanted, or at least he guessed. If Abby didn't wake up he'd call 911 and try and get them to him and Abby. Abby? Please wake up.[/color][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Abby just laid there, despite his prayers to angel or god. He felt stupid, but it was quickly replaced with worry. What was he going to do? Obviously get help. Abby soon spoke, saying she did need help.
Alright, just relax, okay.
[/color] Callix dug into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone. Punching in the three numbers, he listened to the ring until a woman's voice came through on the other side. Nine, one, one: what is your emergency?[/i] My friend fell off the monkey bars, and hit her head. She's fading in and out of consciousness. And she's bleeding, a little. We need help![/color] The woman spoke to him in a soothing voice, promising to send an ambulance. She just needed to know their location. Callix said they were in the park, by the play set. He was new, and wasn't sure of directions. It's fine, we'll find you. Just wait there.[/i] Callix thanked her and hanged up. He looked back down at Abby, wanting to hold her. He knew better though. She'd hit her head and that could be very bad. So instead he stroked her hair away from her face gently. Help's coming, okay Abby.[/color][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]
