Don't let this end now
Slow this dance down
I could stay here all night
Forever
Again he awoke and forgot where he was. He had almost expected to see little Yuuki bouncing on his bed to wake up, his white ceiling with stained wood beams above him, the soft pallet under him, look over to the sliding door of the traditional Japanese home, a rarity in this day and age in Tokyo. Almost did he expect to hears his mothers sweet voice carrying on the cool winter breeze from the kitchen. But the key word was almost. It had happened often when he first got here, but no it was a every now and then thing for him, though it didn’t stop the soft ache in his heart. His missed his sister and his mother. However he would not take back his choice, this was going to be worth it, he would ensure that it was worth it.
Quietly he rose from his bed and gathered his things and showered for the day, it was a Saturday, normally he would be getting ready for school right now but in America the breaks were two days long, an oddity to him but one he was slowly getting used to. Just like all the differences around here, like forks, driving on the other side of the road, the less than modest relationships people have, and so on. This place was not like Japan in the least but he liked the differences, they were fascinating and a challenge to overcome. Like everything placed in his path Kaname made a point to overcome the obstacle on his own in his own way.
Kana left his dorm pulling a black peat coat over his white button up and black skinny jeans he wore buttoning it up. Black locks were in place for the time being partly in his dark brown eyes. Stuffing his hands into his pockets he stepped out of the dorm building and headed out, a small messenger bag over his shoulder holding his school work among other things. He needed to get some work done so he figured the Quad would be the perfect place. It was cooler than the last few days so he doubted anyone would be around. Which is what he wanted. Besides he had a letter to write home, that required writing in Kenji, something he avoided among his American peers, for reasons unknown to him, he simply did.
Once the young Japanese man found his desired location he settled, straddling the ledge and unbuttoned his coat before pulling his book out, a notepad, and his letter. Flipping open the letter Kana scanned it before he pulled out his pen and carefully wrote a reply, the fine tipped pen drawing out the characters with elegant precision. After a while he leaned back against the tree by the ledge and pulled his notepad in his lap and flipped a few pages and opened the school book and continued his homework quietly. Just the cool still air as his company.
Kaname bit his bottom lip as he flipped another page brow knitting slightly as he struggled with translating the meaning of the information he was reading. He scoffed and slammed it shut closing his eyes and bringing his other leg up as he leaned his head back against the rough bark of the tree. A small breeze filtered into the area, brining the sound of footsteps to his ears. The demigod instantly opened his eyes and set his feet down and sat up straight. He brushed his hair back and picked his pen up once more. It would do him no good to show weakness here. No matter what.
