Don't let this end now Slow this dance down I could stay here all night Forever Classes were over at long last, something he was beyond grateful for. There was nothing for him to do with the council either, so he had a free moment. Something he was taking advantage of. So he dropped off his bag and books in his dorm, neatly setting them in their places grabbed his black trench and pulled it over his dark maroon button up and fitted black slacks. He picked up a book of choice, one his mother sent from home, and headed out. A walk on the lawns sounded refreshing. It would be a quiet place to open the book and read the familiar text, and to look at his bookmark, a picture of his little sister in his arms in the park the day before he left.
A breeze pulled his raven locks into his dark brown eyes as he walked off the path into the grass and looked for a tree that would suit his needs, shelter and support. Ahead he found one and bent his head and pushed forward to his destination. Holding the book close the Japanese male crossed the span of grass until he stepped under branches of the tree. He moved around until he found the opposite side of the wide gale and sat down drawling his knees up. Long fingers brushed back his raven locks out of his eyes and he leaned back pulling the book up.
Kaname looked at the cover reading the Japanese symbols. It was a child’s book, fairy tales. Why she would send it too him he wasn’t sure but he opened it anyway and pulled the picture he had out. The little girl in his arms was beaming brilliantly, her brown hair in pig tails and her little pink dress adorable on her as she clung to his neck with an arm and the other waved at the camera as he did with a warm smile. He sighed heavily and looked up from the picture and book to the cloudy sky above. The Japanese senior leaned his head back and watched the clouds move in the blue sky lost in memories, book completely forgotten.

------------------------------------------------------ It took forever for my classes to be over. It had been a boring long day, and the classes hadn't helped whatsoever. I was happy to say though that my English was getting better with the help of the evil vile class. It was still strange for me to speak in English especially since I hadn't gotten a completely great grasp on it. I occasionally answered in Japanese every now and again, but at least I was getting better. The one thing that I really and truly missed was the culture. Everyone here was so much more open and honest about things than they were in Hokkaido. Sex was a difficult subject for me to talk about yet the American students had no problem discussing it. At times, I felt really innocent and naive.
Oh well. At least my darn classes were over. This all meant that I could happily walk across the lawns to get to my dorm rooms and go back to sleep. My body was still adjusting to the time zone, although it really shouldn't have taken it this long. Maybe I was becoming lazy? I sure hoped that I wasn't. Laziness was rather bad. After the teacher released me from class, I happily began to walk rather quickly across the lawns. Spring appeared to be coming even though it was the middle of February; the sun's rays happily shining down on all of us students and making it rather warm out today. The yellow bright dress that I was wearing seemed to project this mood as well.
As I hurriedly walked through the lawns, ignoring the grass that was tickling at my feet, I noticed someone that appeared to be dazed. My eyes widened when I saw that not only was he Japanese, he also appeared to be new. My natural curiosity intervened with my internal voice and so I began to head over in the guy's direction. "Konichiwa!" I said, waving my hand kind of childishly before plopping down in front of him. "You are new, yes?"

Don't let this end now Slow this dance down I could stay here all night Forever A voice interrupted his idle thoughts and brought him back to the present time and country he was in. Brown eyes seemed to take a moment to focus on the girl who spoke, as though he didn’t really hear or see her at first. She seemed a little familiar. However Kana ignored the nagging feeling and decided to let it come to him when it did. So after her question he smiled warmly, charming and polite as ever and sat up lowering his legs and sitting cross-legged. The girl was pretty, and Japanese, a fact that pleased him right away.
“Konichiwa, yes I’m new”, he said tilting his head slightly as he took her appearance in. Just being before him eased the ache just a little. That familiar accent that came with speaking English after a lifetime of Japanese, and the way she held her-self. He never understood how much he missed it, those little things like that. Why did the smallest things always seem to be the ones that pull you down the most?
“I am Hideaki Kaname,” Kaname said a moment after answering her question not wanting to seem rude. Of course he introduced him-self in the proper Japanese way, family name then first name. And of course when he learned her name he would give her the proper honorific. Kana even introduced him-self in their native tongue with a little smile hoping to offer her a little bit of happiness as her mere presence did for him. After all there was one thing he loved to do and that was to make others happy. “How long have you been here in America”, he asked her curiously, keeping to Japanese, finding that once he started up it was difficult to stop, not that it mattered with her, she would know what he was saying he was certain. Kana would never get away with slipping up before his peers though.
Gently as he spoke with her he opened the book and carefully slipped the picture between some pages with the familiar writing, telling tales he knew like the back of his hand. He glanced down briefly before closing the cover to get one last glimpse at his sisters beaming face and eagerly waving hand looking at him from the still. Then a second later his attention was completely focused on the lovely girl across from him.
