Aria tucked a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear. She stared at the ground as she bounced her orange basketball beside her. Basketball was one thing she did get from her athletic mother. It was probably the only thing she had gotten from her other than her looks. Aria paused to think. Her mother's love of sport never did get through to Aria. The only sports she did like was baseball, archery, fencing and basketball. Her mother disliked baseball with a passion. Aria knew that for sure. Archery and fencing were some sports that her mother hadn't tried before but Aria had a feeling she wouldn't like it either. It was just basketball.
She stopped in front of the basketball court. Her mother had told her that it was a man's world. Well, it was the sport mostly played by men who were disturbingly tall. Aria pulled her hair back into a messy ponytail and walked onto the court. She turned her back towards the other people and stood in front of the hoop nearest to her. Rolling her gray sleeves, Aria bounced the ball between her feet before shooting it into the hoop.
A wide grin tugged at her lips as she retrieved the ball. That was one thing her mother had been able to teach Aria when she wasn't intoxicated or blaming Aria for her career. She sent the ball flying towards the hoop. It missed and hit the board hard, sending the ball shooting behind Aria. She turned around and watched as the ball rolled towards someones feet. "Hey, could you pass the ball back?" she shouted. * * *

The gymnasium at school was often too filled with people to sit in there to work on plays for the basketball team. Chase had learned that quite some time ago, and had since taken to Del Notre Park, when there were often less people. Though Chase wasn't the captain of the basketball team, it was no secret that he was Athena's son, and as of such, the most adept at strategy. Today at Del Notre, the chill in the air seemed to keep most of the casual park-goers warm in their homes. That was fine by him, as it kept the court open for him to visualize the plays. Well, mostly open. There was a girl on the court, who seemed to be quite talented at the game. He was certain he'd seen her around school, though he couldn't place a name. Well, it was unimportant. It wasn't as though he could draft her for the boys team. Suddenly, she missed her shot, the ball rebounding and flying toward him. Thankfully, the grass slowed the ball and it slowed to stop harmless at his feet. A smirk made its way to his face and he set down his notebook. Picking up the ball, he walked out onto the court, dribbling slowly. As he approached the three-point line, he took a shot, the ball sinking through the net without so much as grazing the hoop. "Yeah, I suppose I COULD have just passed the ball back, but what fun would that be?" He ran over to get the ball and dribbled it back towards her. He held the ball under his left arm while extending his right. "Chase Finley, nice to meet you." -------- OUTFIT!

Aria groaned as the boy came dribbling with her ball. She turned to watch as the ball sailed into the hoop. She was sure that this kid had to be another show off. Her blue eyes narrowed slightly at the boy. Aria eyed the boy, he seemed familiar in a way. Did he go to her school? Aria wasn't quite sure about that. But if he did go to her school, was he another demigod like her? It wouldn't be safe asking if he was the son of a Greek God. There may be a chance he was another regular, then the secret of them being demigods would be blown.
She grinned, returning back to her happy self. "Aria. Aria Derosier." She shook his hand. Her impulsiveness kicked in and she knocked the ball out of his hand. She dribbled it towards the hoop before slam dunking it in. A smirk replaced her grin. "Now, I suppose I could have just asked for the ball, but what fun would that be?" She laughed before bouncing the ball towards Chase. "Well, what are you waiting for? Shoot," Aria grinned.

Chase laughed a bit as the girl stole the ball from him, and quite impressively managed to slam dunk it. The net was pretty high, and he doubted that a normal girl could do that. Nope, she was most definitely a demigod. But how to bring it up? he wondered. Well, it would happen eventually, he was sure. He was fairly certain that he could get it out of her somehow.
As she passed the ball back to him, he smirked. Dribbling the ball towards the net, he did a lay-up, the ball bouncing off the backboard and sinking into the net. "So, are we going to play a bit of basketball now? I must warn you, I'm rather good at it. I'm all about the strategy." He winked at her. "My parents are both excellent strategists, particularly my mother. She's practically a goddess when it comes to things like that."
He tossed the ball back to her. "So, what do you say? Horse, perhaps? Maybe some one-on-one?"

The hoop was higher than she expected. Her eyes flitted quickly at Chase. Did he notice her jumping higher than most girls? If he did, Aria wasn't so sure she could pass her lift off with her usual excuse. The wind carried me higher, that's all. But why would her excuse fail on her now? It had worked on most people who watched her play basketball. She needed a better excuse. The more she thought, the more ridiculous they sounded. My father's the God of Knowledge; his kids are supposed to think these things through. Why did I not think this through? With a small grin, she watched as the ball went through the hoop. She looked up at Chase and nodded. "Sure," she replied before rolling her eyes, "alright, one-on-one."
"Well, I'm all about the game," Aria smirked, "prepare to get beaten by a girl." A goddess? Aria hadn't heard a person describe their mother as a goddess. Unless she was at the demigod dorms, she'd hear that. Her forehead creased slightly as she eyed Chase. Was he a demigod as well? She started to piece up the puzzle. Goddess? Mother? Strategy? That lead her to Athena. Chase's mother was Athena? "You're -" she whispered, "you're the son of Athena, aren't you?"

Chase grinned, seeing the panic flit across her face. He'd always been a bit arrogant that he was part god, and honestly he wanted to tell everyone he met. He'd always found some sly way to say it, one that would never actually reveal him unless he was talking to another Demigod. It amused him how the other demigods were so worried about being discovered. Come on! If Chase hadn't been one, he would have dismissed anyone who claimed to be one as completely insane. Why would anyone worry about it?
Still, that didn't mean he couldn't have a little fun. As her face pondered his statements about his mother, he knew what was coming. He'd given the best clue he possibly could for her to figure it out. And there it was. As she figured it out, he did his best to put on a confused expression. "Athena? What, like the Greek goddess? You don't actually believe in that stuff, do you?" He hoped to the gods that his mother wouldn't be offended. It was all strategy, mom. Really. "My mom's name is Valerie, and she lives in Annapolis. I just think very highly of her."
He took that moment to knock the basketball out of her hands, and shoot a quick two-pointer. The ball bounced on the rim for a moment, then fell into the net. "So, 2-0 so far. Do you really think you can keep up with this?" He passed the ball back to her for her go at trying to make it to the net.
