Sarafina gently placed the hand that was resting on the side of neck to his chest, she could feel his heart beating, while her's was beating quicker and quicker. Dodger was different in her eyes, he was someone she could really trust and be with, she knew a side of him that showed the day her father made an unexpected visit from her father she noticed how protective Dodger got when her drunk father got close to her. He was a different person when he was protecting someone, but that didn't bug her at all, as long as he was there protecting her not hurting her she would always be with him.

Before he got his act together, Dodger was one of the kids that you knew would end up getting busted for something illegal. He would always hang out with the "bad kids" known around campus for causing chaos whenever they could. He fell into the wrong crowd, and did stupid things he ended up regretting. Before he came to Richmond, he was a mess and he knew it more than ever now. Seeing Sarafina's dad storm up to his daughter while he was drunk reminded him of what he didn't want to become. His own father had been the same way after his mother died. Something about Richmond High and being on his own snapped him out of his old ways and gave him a much needed dose of reality. It turned out to be just what he needed.
Now that he thought about it, he really didn't deserve Sarafina. Everything about her was perfect, and he wasn't sure what she saw in him to begin with. But he was counting his lucky stars that he was right here with her.

Sarafina gently pulled away, for once in her entire life she felt wanted by someone, someone to finally love her and care for her unlike her father did. Dodger was the one person for her and now she belong to him and hopefully it would remain this way for a long time. When she pulled away she noticed something was troubling Dodger, and she knew when somebody was troubled after all she looked troubled her entire life. "Dodger are you alright? She asked him softly, looking into his eyes. Hopefully he would tell her truth instead of being lied to, like she hasn't her entire life.

He looked at Sarafina, not knowing what he should do next. He knew keeping secrets from her would only end up backfiring on him and he didn't want to think about losing her. She'd been lied to her entire life. "Yeah, I'm fine." That wasn't entirely false, but he had a lot on his mind and he needed to let it out.
"Listen, Sarafina, I gotta tell you something." He sighed deeply, ready to get this off his shoulders. "Before I came to Richmond, I was such a mess. Got involved in the wrong crowd, probably did some things I shouldn't have. Nearly got busted a few times, I have no idea how I got out of that."

Sarafina continued to look at him, something did seem troubling. When he said that everything was fine she was about to say Don't lie to me, please but she was stopped when she heard his voice again, she could easily tell he needed to get something off his shoulders. It seemed by what he said he had a troubling pass, he got into trouble, got mixed up with the wrong sorts of people. " Dodger, I don't care about your passed, or what you did all I care about is the who you are now. And what I see is someone who loves, and cares for me." She said to him as she gently stroked his face with her fingers.
