Dodger's car slowly came to a stop as the bright green light turned red. He'd never been so glad to be off work in his entire life, Dodger had been at that damn auto shop all day and was ready to watch some TV with his dog. Marv would be waiting for him on his bed, anxiously waiting for his dog to come walking through the door. Dodger fidgeted with the radio for a few moments, before he decided on a radio station that was playing some old rock song he had never heard before. The clock on his phone told him that it was almost midnight, just a few minutes shy. "Damn...I really gotta stop working this late." He mumbled to himself, looking back up at the light. He sent Sarafina a text, telling her that she could come over if she wanted to.
When Dodger looked up, he was blinded by the bright white lights that reflected off of his review mirror. For a brief moment, he didn't know what they were but he knew they were coming closer. His eyes drifted from the review to the stretch of open road ahead of him and the red light that haunted it. He sighed and let his hands slip off the steering wheel as he sat there in silence, completely unaware of the fate that awaited him. That dumb ass really needs to turn his brights off. Dodger thought to himself, as the truck came to a screeching stop against the back of the red Challenger. He felt the truck hit at the exact moment the light turned green and he pressed his foot against the gas pedal. The momentum from the hit sent his car forward, and before he could reach for the wheel Ruby was sitting upside down on the side of the lonely, empty road.
Shit.

Sarafina was sitting on her bed listening to her Ipod, and twirling with her engagment ring that was around her left ring finger. It had been a few days since he proposed to her, it was be the day that she would remember for the rest of her life. It was then she felt her cellphone vibrate, she took her phone out of her jeans and saw that the text message was from Dodger, saying that she could come over, of course she would come over. She usually waited at Dodger's dorm anyway till he got back from work, she walked over to his dorm to be greeted by Marv petting his head as she walked over to Dodger's bed. It was already twelve fifthteen a.m. and she felt her eyelids start to drop.
12:50 AM
Brrr......brrrr.....brrr....brr... Sarafina woke up to the sound of her phone virbrating on Dodger's nightstand, Marv was asleep next her. Sarafina looked at the alarm clock that was on the nightstand 12:50, Sarafina looked at the empty space next to her, Where's Dodger? She thought to herself. Reaching for her phone, Sarafina noticed that the phone-number wasn't one that she knew, half-asleep she answered "Hello......Yes, this is her...... Sarafina sat up, fully awake now "Is he alright?.......When did it happen?.......Alright i'm on my way... She said, hanging up her phone she got off the bed, open the door closed it behind her and started to run down stairs to her dorm room to get her car keys. After getting her car keys, and a jacket she ran outside to her car, she quickly started the engine and started to drive towards the hospital.
1:05 A.M.
Sarafina drove into the parking lot of St. Ruth's Hospital, turning the car off she locked the car before running across the parking lot and into the Emergency Care room. She walked to the desk trying to act as calm as possible, "Dodger Moore's room, please." She said to the lady sitting behind the counter, after hearing the sound of keyboard she finally heard the room number Room 204, right down the hallway. She said, "Thank you." Sarafina said as she started to walk to the room, trying to keep from thinking that she was gonna loose Dodger, he was all she had left to live for, besides the life that was growing inside of her, as soon as the room number came into view she saw a male doctor coming out, "Excuse me doctor, how is he? She asked, the doctor gave her a questioning look, "I'm his fiance." She said to him, she took a quick glance into the room but all she saw was the heart monitor and a few chairs, before looking back to the doctor.

What the hell happened? The last thing he remembered before drifting into blackness was hearing a voice speak to him. The voice asked him if he was awake, or even alive for that matter. He made a weak attempt to speak, but his mouth was too full of asphalt and blood. The voice grew softer and softer, and he could feel someone picking him up slowly while prying off the car door. "What the fu...my car! Where's...where's Sarafina?" He mumbled, spitting out chunks of asphalt and dirt as he spoke. The woman who was helping carry him to the stretcher looked down at him and frowned sympathetically. "Don't worry about the car, just relax." But of course, was Dodger going to take that kind of advice? Hell no he wasn't.
"He should be fine. Nothing major, besides the broken arm and a few cuts here and there. The police report that we received was that a large truck slammed into the back of the Challenger, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. It flipped over a few times. He's just now waking up from the anesthesia but I think you'll be fine going in there." The doctor said with a polite nod, as the blond woman identified herself as the young man's fiancée.

When she heard that Dodger's car flipped over a few times it sounded as if it was an exact repeat of the car accident when she was four years old the accident that took the life of her mom. Sarafina nodded at the doctor then walked into the room shutting the door behind her for some privacy, she turned around to see Dodger on the hospital be, god it hurt her to see him like that, she apporched the bed gently taking his hand stroking it with her thumb "Hey, how do you feel?" She asked him, using another hand to bring one of the chairs closer to her so she could sit down by the bed. Sarafina was going to stay here for as long as she could, even if Dodger told her to leave she wasn't going to, she was gonna stay here.

The drugs were starting to wear off when Sarafina walked into the room, looking at him with deep concern in her eyes. "I feel like shit." He put it bluntly, there was no need to sugarcoat it. His right arm was broken and it hurt like a bitch. Dodger sighed and blinked at the IV that was connected to his hand, being held in by a small needle and some medical tape. He laid his head back down on the pillow and turned off the TV. He'd only been awake for a few moments and the room felt fuzzy and blurred, like everything had been some kind of dream. What a shitty dream that one was.
"I broke the shit out of my arm."

Sarafina didn't really expect a good answer from him, afterall she couldn't blame him either since he was just in a car accident. She leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead, before sitting down her hand still on top of his, just resting there. She looked at his arm that was in a cast, luckly that was all he got "Well, at least that all had happen to you." She said to him. Watching him turn off the t.v. a thought came into her head,What if she actually lost Dodger? What if she had to raise their child on her own. She thought, but she quickly pushed that thought out of her head, why was she even thinking that? Dodge was alive and here with her, "You'll be better in a few days. She said to him.
After a few minutes, she looked up at Dodger "Do you need anything?" She asked, might as well make herself usefull since she was here.

He shrugged, perhaps she was right. But that didn't change the fact that his car was in pieces, it's insides sprawled all over the road. But he was trying to not worry about that so much, and the meds they were giving him were doing a pretty good job of that. He rubbed his eyes sleepily, trying his best to keep himself awake for Sarafina's sake. "I guess you're right. I hit my head on the steering wheel. That shit hurts."
He would have to stay overnight and a few nights after, to give the doctor and surgeon enough time to set and cast his arm. He wouldn't be driving or doing much of anything for a while, but he would still be able to make it to prom and graduation as planned. Only this time, he'd be rocking the cast. "Uh well, I would ask for a shot of something strong...but the doc would probably yell at me." Dodger smirked, shrugging.

Sarafina felt bad for Dodger, she really did even though she didn't like Ruby that much since Dodger was over-protective of that car. But she still loved him, and dealt with his smartassness everyday of her life,"Hey just tell people you got into a bar fight. She said giggling. It wasn't hard to figure out that Dodger would be staying her for awhile, so she would be taking care of Marv and his Ducati for a while.
When she heard Dodger say that he wanted another shot she shook her head, then stood then leaned over him, "Dodger we both know I can make you feel better and you won't get yelled out." Leans in and places a kiss on his lips just like she wanted to ever since she walked into his room.

"Damn, I'm gonna miss that car. You probably won't....but still." He shrugged and glared at the needle in his hand. Well, it was fun while it lasted. He reached into his pocket, pulling out the old keys. He wasn't thrilled to hear the doctor tell him he would have to stay for a few days, but it was a whole lot better than going to work. Anything was better than going to work.
"You know, I would be insanely happy if you brought me a snowcone." Dodger replied with a weak smile.

Sarafina knew that Dodger was gonna miss that car afterall he paid a lot of money for it, and he loved it like it was his own kid. She justed Dodger would treat their child even better then that car, Sarafina was scared for Dodger to go back to work, what if it happened to him again, and it had a worse result with a soft sigh she sat on the bed next to him, her hand still resting on top of his.
"Dodger, when I got the phone call saying that you were in the hospital......I thought I was gonna loose you.... And have to raise our child on my own.........So many thoughts went through my head, it scared me......The worst thought was me being alone and telling our child why he doesn't have a father." She felt tears form in her eyes as she sat next to Dodger. Those thoughts that came to her mind scared the life out of her and it was obvious how scared she was when she got that phone call.

He scooted over to the left, and patted the bed next to him with his good arm. "You can lie with me if you'd like. I don't think they'll let you stay for very long, but I'd like for you to stay for as long as you can." Dodger looked up at Sarafina with a tired and jaded smile, but it was still sincere. He forgot what time it was, but he knew it was way past midnight since the hospital was dark and quiet. Hospitals were always a little creepy this time of night away, so he appreciated the company.

Sarafina listened to him as she fought back the tears that her forming in her eyes, the last thing she wanted was to loose Dodger. Without another passing second she crawled over to the space and laid down next to him, she sniffled as her tears became harder and harder to fight back, seeing him in the hospital was hurting her. She carefully placed a hand on his chest so that she didn't her him, "I love you Dodger...." She said to him as she looked up at him.

He'd been in accidents before, but he walked away from most of them with nothing more than a scratch. And he also had never completely totaled a car, either. Dodger kissed her on the forehead and she lay next to him, putting his uninjured arm around her shoulder and holding her close. He could fall asleep like this, with a mixture of pain killers and sleep deprivation running through his blood. He knew it would take a while, but his injuries would heal and he would be as good as new. "I love you too." He was incredibly lucky that his arm was the only thing that took any real damage. Although he did hit his head on the steering wheel, all it left was a small bruise on his forehead. He had some minor scrapes here and there, but it was nothing that wouldn't heal.

Sarafina scooted as close as she could to him without hurting him, the feeling of his lips against her head and his arm around her brought her comfort especially with him being in this state. It was a few seconds after she started to feel her eyelids drop, afterall being woken up at twelve-fifty in the morning wasn't part of her schedule, and hearing that Dodger was in the hospital took a even bigger toll on her, all her body wanted to was sleep. It seemed to be saying to her it would do her some good and the life that was growing inside her, she tried to stay awake but she was loosing the battle, she wanted to stay awake and talk to Dodger but this is where she wanted to be, next to him with a arm around her giving her comfort. It was a few seconds later she was asleep next to Dodger.

Surgery in the morning...awesome. Dodger thought to himself, remembering the words that the doctor spoke to him just minutes before Sarafina arrived. Dodger knew it would be a while before he could do anything with that arm, but he was fine with that as long as Sarafina was there with him. He was thankful it was him that wrecked his car and not Sarafina, he would much rather her be safe and out of trouble. He looked down at the sleeping blonde, and pressed his lips against her forehead.
It didn't take him very long to give in to the pain killers, which helped ease the throbbing pain in his arm and put him into a content sleep. Dodger knew that there was a chance that she could be gone when he awoke, but for the time being he was perfectly content knowing she was right here by his side.
