Blaise sat on the beach watching the waves roll in. She had a cigarette resting between her fingers as she smiled. She loved being on the beach, the sun felt so nice on her skin. Blaise stood up and went into the water just deep enough for the water to be up to her knees. She wanted someone to show up so she would have someone to surf with. Blaise didn't care if they knew how to surf or not she would teach them if she had to. It has been about a month since she has been surfing and craved it so much.
She finished her cigarette and flicked it onto the sand. Blaise walked out of the water and started to wax her surf board. She strapped her leash to her ankle and headed out to the water again.

With summer rolling around, this was about the time I'd start taking Bell down to the beach for some runs through the shallow water, but I figured it was about time I introduced Gatsby to the scenery.
The little guy had his ears perked up as high as they would go, his eyes wide open, and his nares opened wide as he took in all the sights and sounds of the beach. The tide freaked him out a little bit, but that was okay. I never went any deeper than Bell's knees on a run, so with Gatsby it'd be even shallower. But for now, he just had to take that little first step even though I was quite nervous around the tide myself.
As we headed down the shore, I noticed someone that looked familiar holding a board of some sort of board that was attached at her ankle.... a surf board, I would assume. But I really wasn't sure about that. I didn't know anything about surfing other than the fact that you did it out in the ocean on the waves and it required a board.... meh. I'm so uneducated in terms of water sports that isn't crew rowing.
"Blaise, right?" I called out to her, stopping just above where the tide was coming in. Gatsby was watching her with his wide eyes, almost as if he was examining everything she was doing.

Blaise was about to start to paddle out as she heard her name come from behind her. She turned around and noticed a guy walking towards her. She squinted a little to see if she could make out who it was, it looked like Semper but she wasn't too sure. "Yea I'm Blaise. Your Semper right?"
Blaise turned and started to walk back out of the water to meet him half way. She splashed through the current and walked up onto the hot sand. She unstrapped her board and set it down in the sand. She plopped down next to it and waited for Semper to get closer to her. "Hows it going?" She smiled at him with a slight wave.

Ah, well at least I had her name right. I had gotten one thing right today. When she asked if she had gotten my name right, I nodded.
When she came back out of the water, I went over and brought Gatsby with me, sitting down beside her. Gatsby didn't quite want to come over so I let him be, but eventually he came over and stood by me, ears still perked forward and watching the girl. "This is Gatsby," I added, pointing to the black and white spotted foal. I then shrugged. "Pretty good. How 'bout y'?"

Blaise looked back out into the ocean as she sat there with Semper. She smiled as he introduced his foal to her. "Hey there Gatsby." She laughed a little as she said this. "I'm good, just getting a little surfing in for the day. You should try it out." She smiled as she looked at her board then back over to Semper. She never really taught anyone how to surf before but she was up for trying. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (bah sorry its short)

Gatsby was too busy sniffing the sand, which probably wasn't a good thing since he nearly had his nose all the way in it, but he lifted his head back up before I was going to get it up myself.
I looked back over at Blaise when she mentioned that I should try surfing. The conversation sounded a lot like one I had with someone over the school's chat. Maybe this was her. "I'm.... scared of the ocean, though." I said, wondering if she'd mention anything about just shoving me into the water.

She looked at Semper like he was crazy. She knew that people were afraid of the ocean but she never thought that she would meet someone who was. "There's nothing to be afraid of in the ocean. The chances of being attacked by a shark are slim to none." She had a warm smile on her face and put her hand on his shoulder to comfort him.
Blaise looked back out onto the water and watched as the waves rolled in. "What are the chances of you getting in the ocean to learn how to surf?" She remembered talking to someone on the school chat about the ocean. She just figured this was the guy.

She put a hand on my shoulder, and all I could think about was how short she was compared to me. Well, maybe she was normal sized for a girl, but I was not normal sized for a guy, so I had to really look down at her to see her face. Blaise was telling me that there was nothing to be afraid of in the ocean, and that I wouldn't get attacked by a shark.
"It ain't sharks I'm afraid of..."I admitted quietly, avoiding her eyes and rubbing the back of my neck with a hand. "I'm scared 'cause I can't see the other shore. 'n' riptides scare m'." It was kind of embarrassing to admit that I was so scared of such a ridiculous thing, but it was the truth. The ocean and burning iron rods. An awkward set of things to be scared of, but I am. "The chances right now? Slim t' none...." I was not going to go out and learn to surf. I have nothing against surfing, mind you, but I was not about to go get in that ocean.

Blaise couldn't believe that he was afraid of that. Of all things to be afraid of that has to be the most random thing she has heard in her life. "But you can see this shore so whats the difference? Plus if you can swim you don't really have to worry about riptides" She said this in a teasing way so he didn't feel so embarrassed.
"How far do you go into the ocean anyways?" She was determined to get him into the ocean eventually. Even if that meant shoving him in there.

It was really stupid, I know, but I couldn't help it. Nothing's ever happened to me in an ocean, but for some reason I've just developed a fear of it. Completely unexplainable.
I wondered whether it was really worth it to argue my case about not being able to see the opposite shore, not this one, but I decided against it. It really was stupid, but I just couldn't get over it. I wasn't the best swimmer either, hence why I only ever go into the calm parts of rivers.
"Only 'bout m ' knees...." I answered, absentmindedly glancing down at my legs and noticing that Gatsby was leaning against me, sniffing the sand again.

She smiled and shook her head a little. Her mind was finding a way to get him a little bit deeper into the ocean. There was no way that he could be that terrified of it. There was nothing really to be afraid of in the ocean. She could understand his fear slightly though, she had dumb fears as well and couldn't really get over it. "Well lets go in a little deeper right now, I'll be there so you will be alright." She had on a warm smile and looked over at him. Blaise figured if she just gave him a slight push towards the right direction she could help him get over his ocean fear. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sorry kinda short [/size]

As much as I trusted Blaise, it's always a terrifying experience to conquer your fears. And it was kind of scary how much I trusted Blaise even though I've only known her for about seven minutes.
"As much as I don't want t'...." I muttered, but stopped short. Eventually I was going to have to get over my fears, so why not now? And why not get Gatsby used to the water too? "Fine..."

She couldn't believe how easy it was to convince Semper to go into the ocean. He must have trusted her a lot since the ocean obviously scared the living shit out of him. She was glad that he was going to try to over come his fears though. So far she thought that they were getting along really well. She felt like she had known him for years already. Blaise definitely didn't expect that when she first met him. She stood up and headed towards the water.
"You coming? She figured that she would try to get him in so the water was up to his stomach. It's not that far in but hey it's a start. At least he agreed to going in at all he could of said hell no. "Eventually I want to get you onto my surfboard and push you out so your feet cant touch the bottom at all. Blaise had a smirk on her face knowing that her comment probably freaked him out.
She walked to the edge of the water and let the waves come rolling over her feet. The water was cold and refreshing, this sent a surge of happiness through her body. She couldn't explain why the ocean made her so happy it just did. Blaise hoped that eventually Semper would have the same feeling about it as she did.

What the hell was I getting myself into? I hated going in the ocean, and yet here I was, trusting a girl I've only known for seven minutes with one of my greatest fears. I was being stupid, really. Blaise was right. There's nothing to be afraid of in the ocean aside from riptides, sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, those rock fish, eels, insane drop offs..., so I had nothing to worry about.
I didn't care about my clothes getting wet and I was already barefoot since all I was walking on was sand, so my main worry now was Gatsby. I went over to the water beside Blaise, waiting for Gatsby to get done sniffing the salty liquid before prancing out to join us, the splashing water amusing him. As he did that, I couldn't help but nervously laugh at Blaise's surfboard comment. "Aha, good luck with that one...."

Blaise waited for the guy to walk over to her. Once he was next to her she turned to him "Ready?" She walked farther into the water to it was up to her shins. By now she would of already been all the way in the water but she promised that she wouldn't rush him.
She could tell that he was getting nervous since his voice had nervous written all over it. She chuckled to herself and shook her head a little. This poor guy was really terrified of the ocean. Blaise was convinced that the more time they spent in the ocean the better he would feel about it. "Gatsby seems to enjoy the water." She tried to lighten him up a little bit, get his mind off of where he was standing.
