Sarafina packed the last of her clothes before zipping her traveling bag, a tear went down her cheek. Why was she going down this road again? She already went through after the death of her mother's car accident. But there was one thing Sarafina hasn't told anyone, she was holding herself accountable for her mother's death as well. The day of the accident Sarafina was at a riding lesson, when she got a text from her dad for her to call him when she was ready to be picked up. When she was done with her lesson she called her mom instead cause she wanted to see her, and they always went for ice cream after a riding lesson in the summer. After her mom picked her up they started driving to the ice cream store, they came to a intersection they had the right of way, it seemed only seconds went by when a drunk driver's Ford truck going 50 MPH, collided with their Honda Accord. Sarafina came out without a sctrach on her but her mom wasn't so lucky ever since she blamed herself for that accident.
And now she was heading back to her home town Sparks, Nevada for her father's funeral who died from a stomach ulcer, or some doctor's say "Drinking himself to death." Sarafina didn't know who to believe, but now she was holding herself responeable for both of her parents death, she could've easily taken her dad to rehab but for her own safety she never went to him or even take him back to rehab having the fear what might have happen to her. She felt her cellphone vibrate as her alarm went of to go to Dodger's car, she sighed softly as she walked to the bathroom putting cold water on her cheeks to make it look like she wasn't crying. Walking back to her bed she grabed her avaitor glasses from the nightstand, placed her bag over her shoulder walking out of the room closing the door behind her. She walked down the steps of the dorm then towards Dodger's car.

He offered to drive Sarafina to Sparks, Nevada for a handful of reasons. For one, nobody should have to go to a family member's funeral alone. It had been nearly a decade since his mom and dad passed away, but he was old enough to remember how bad he had felt. It was also a long drive and Dodger would feel more at ease if he went with her, he didn't want her to do this alone anyway. He packed a bag full of whatever he thought he'd need, and tossed some extra money in the side pocket. His next plan was to stop at the gas station. After he turned around and headed towards the door, he was ready to go.
Luckily for him, the line at the gas station was a fast moving one so he was able to fill up his tank and fill up an extra gas container just in case. Dodger popped open the trunk and put the gas container in the very back, leaving plenty of room for Sarafina's things. "Hey, sorry I was a little late. I wanted to make sure Ruby had enough gas." He took her bags for her and put them in the bank before finally closing the trunk.

Sarafina didn't know how she could ever repay Dodger, he was so good to her. Sure he could be a total smartass, but Dodger had a sense a pride and Sarafina knew that she was one of those very very few people who could see past that and see a Dodger that she knew nobody else could see. Plus, Dodger was there for her from the beginning, ever since her dad wondered onto the school campus while drunk and when he was alive Dodger was there for her and ever since then Dodger was one of very few people who she could trust fully after being raised with a father who you were ashamed to call a father.
"Don't worry about it, I kinda expected you would want to fill her up." She said to him, "Thank you" She said as he took her bags, when he closed the trunk she walked towards him, "Dodger, can I ever repay you. You've been there for me since the beginning and I always wondered what I can do in return." She asked as she placed her hands on his chest standing close to him.

Maybe a road trip would be good for her. "Don't worry about it. Nobody should have to go through this on their own." Perhaps some wide open road would help clear her mind, until they got there at least. But she told him the plan, and today they would be driving until they reached their half-way point. This gave them a day to rest before they had to hit the road again. He'd never taken Ruby on this kind of trip before, but she had a fresh set of tires and brand new oil and was ready to go. But by the looks of things, maybe Sarafina need more repair than the car did.
After their things were settled in the back, he kissed her on the cheek before walking to the passenger side, and opening the door. After she took her seat, he walked over to the driver's side and casually slid into the driver's seat. He remembered the day at the beach when he tossed her the keys, and let her take his prized possession for a spin on the sand.

Sarafina had a small smile on her face by Dodger's response, she was lucky to have someone like Dodger, even though she had her days when she wanted to slap him silly but today and the next few days probably wouldn't be like that. Sarafina was happy that Dodger was gonna be taking her to the funeral, and probably going with her if he wanted to, it would give him a chance to finally meet her family but that was all up to him.
She knew that Dodger was doing the right thing by coming with her, it relaxed her a bit when she felt his lips against her cheek, she slid into the passanger seat then buckled her seat belt as Dodger got into the driver seat. There was nobody else that she would want to take her back to Sparks, other then Dodger.

Judging by the look on her face, he was getting on her good side which was always a nice place to be. He messed with the radio until he found something good and rolled down the sunroof. It was a nice enough day to leave it open, anyway. He reached for his keys which were in his pocket (if he put them anywhere else, he'd lose them) and started Ruby.
"Lucky you, you get to put up with me for three days straight." He smirked, as he looked over at Sarafina who seemed to be pretty comfortable in the shotgun seat that was always reserved for her.

Sarafina looked up at the sunroof as he opened it from the press of the button, he loved this car as if it was his own kid. If some person he didn't know even touched it he would go into defense mode, it was pretty amazing how he protective he was of the car.
She looked over at Dodger as he explained that she was lucky that she got Dodger all to herself, a smile came on her face "I wouldn't want it any other way Dodger." She said then she leaned over then placed a kiss on Dodger's lips.

Dodger put the car into drive, and before either of them knew it they were driving out on the open road. Sarafina always liked to tease him about him and his car, which he treated like it was the most expensive thing he owned. Well...she was right about that, it was. The only reason he even owned it was his inheritance money, and it was a miracle he was even given any in the first place. Him and his dad hadn't ended their relationship on good terms, which was the main reason he packed up his things and headed for California.
"I hope we have someplace to stay, because then we'd have to sleep in the car. I've done that before, it's not fun." He said with a smirk.

Sarafina loved having Dodger around no matter what situation she was in, even what she was going to experiance on Friday, burying her dad. But Dodger knew how to make her smile no matter what. Sarafina never really asked Dodger about his past history with his parents she knew enough that both of his parents were gone and she was all he had.
"Don't act like you wouldn't like sleeping next to me Dodger." She said with a smile.

He already had a feeling this trip was going to be far from boring. The last time he was on a field trip, he remembered that all he did was sleep half of the time or play the license tag game with one of his parents. As far as he was concerned, it was just a game you played when you wanted to pass the time. "Maybe I would. Maybe I wouldn't." One thing he liked about empty roads like this one, was that you could go as fast as you wanted. Besides, he rarely saw any cops in this part of the state anyway. "So, this is the first Sassidodge road trip in the history of road trips." He said with a smirk.

Sarafina looked out the window as he continued to drive getting ready to get onto the freeway, she could only wonder what was going through Dodger's head he was known for being a bit of a troublemaker at school but he did nothing serious since he was on the football team. She looked over at him as he said that this was the first Sassidodge road trip int he history of road trips, she smiled "One of many that is if you play your cards right Mr. Dodger Moore." She said playfully, as she continued to look at him.

It was nothing but wide open spaces, until they merged onto the freeway. "You know I always play my cards right." Dodger looked at Sarafina with a smirk. He was glad that they could clear their heads a little before Friday rolled around. Friday was going to be tough, but he knew what she was going through. They'd been on the road for what seemed like hours when they finally reached their halfway point. After driving nonstop, he was ready for a break.

Sarafina smiled at Dodger then looked at the scenery around what she knew what was Nevada since she was raised around her. When they stopped at the halfway point she opened the door, and got out to stretch her legs, "Well it was a long drive but the scenery was worth it." She said to Dodger. Sarafina looked around at the motel, then around seeing a gas station across the street then a resturant and a Mccdonalds on either side, "Do you want to check in and get some rest or get something to eat?" She asked Dodger, she was asking Dodger cause he was the one who drove all the way up he should choose what he wanted to do.

"I vote we eat, but then again I'm always hungry." Dodger shrugged, he was thankful that football kicked his butt enough and kept him in shape. He also got a few broken bones because of that, but it was all apart of the job. Win games, and break a few bones on the way. There wasn't a whole lot to chose from, but he liked it out here. The landscape reminded him of home in a way, minus the mountains of course. "So this home sweet home for you?" He asked with a curious smile.

Sarafina couldn't help but smile at his comment about him always being hungry, she had to agree about that. Dodger had a reputation about sometimes being a bottomless pit it was amazing what he ate but never got fat. Sarafina walked over to Dodger to stand next to him, "We can get something to eat if you want." She said looking at the resturant and Mcdonalds, Sarafina wasn't hungry for some odd reason, she felt that all she wanted to do was sleep but it was Dodger's call, a small smile came on her face "Yeah it is. Home sweet home, I haven't been here in years but it all seems the same so far." She said to him, leaning against him lovingly.
